Well, since your already in deep and have a child together and since you really want to get married then I can't see a reason shy not. There are a bunch of families that are like that in the world. Not that I'm condoning this type of thing, but if you look at it, you've been together for a while, and have a child together so why not take the last step. Your parents just have to face the fact that your together and have a kid.

IMO- I wouldn't approve of marriage with a first or even second cousin because that is just too being close to blood relatives. But hey, each to his own, right?

The problem is not so much the marrying as the child. With that close a similarity in the genes of the 2 of you, there is a much higher risk of negative traits like birth defects and such reinforcing each other and causing problems for the child. Also, many states, I believe, actually have laws that forbid this type of marriage.

Yes girl its exactlly wrong to get marry your first cousin in the eyes and mind of all people who so glory the old tradition. i did not say that the old tradition is bad they are right, and also that is so againts the law of god. But in your case just do like you want to get marry with him for your love hapiness and for the kid and no matter the both parents are not agree you can do to marry only with him in the civil but thats will happen if the people which are in the law will understand your situation too with him. because i really think that the church will not really accept you to get marry with him in the church. But girl remember you are right we can't help ourself to fall inlove with but we can control it by right time and by the decission.

It's not wrong, in fact it's perfectly normal...If you were in "Deliverance". Are you kidding me? At this point you should probably get married because the reason for making it ILLEGAL in most states to marry a first cousin is to avoid procreation, but you've already done that so it's too late.

Have fun in the rural portion of which ever red state you live in.

Hi, There is absolutely nothing wrong with marrying your cousin. I use to date my first cousin. It is allowed in all religions. Do not listen to these ignorant answeres on here. Nothing will be wrong with your child. I know this because i know plenty of people whos parents are cousins. Good luck

It is not wrong to marry your first cousin and it is legal in most states. Just make sure it is legal in your state. If not, then just marry in another state and then your state must recognize the marriage per Article IV, Section 1 of the Constitution.

There are no contemporary studies that indicate cousins have children with significantly higher than normal birth defects. Fears of cousins who marry having children with birth defects are indeed exaggerated. Simply marrying within your own race increases the odds of birth defects. Marrying within your own town further increases your chances. Cousin couples have only a slightly higher incidence of birth defects than non-related couples.

Generally it's frowned upon because it leads to a lack of genetic diversity. First cousin and closer relatives have similar enough genetics that there is a drastic increase of occurrances of recessive gene pairs leading to birth defects.

That and there's the eeewwwww factor.

There is nothing wrong with marrying your first cousin. As long as your mom and dad and his mom and dad didn't marry their first cousins and so on and so forth.

Ug. It's, uh, *wrong* because of genetic reasons. You already share genes with this person, so there is a higher likelihood that your progeny will have defects/retardation/handicaps. There's a reason it's frowned upon.
