You are right. By the way I do not go to Petsmart anymore, I needed to put my batman in doggie daycare and they will not allow bullie Breeds. The Manger got rude with me telling me they will never let a monster like a pit bull in the day care. Funny later that day he was attacked by a standrad poodle and was in the hosptil for 2 weeks, he almost died. And my dog was a monster gee

Yes I think people have stupid ideas about many breeds, unfortunately pitbulls are one. My friend has 4 rescues that are the biggest sweeties ever. It's even spreading to other random "bully" breeds. I have an English Bulldog- biggest baby, laziest dog he lays down in the store if i stop to look at something, loves everyone and everything dog, yet I've had people go out of their way to avoid him. I always just look at them like they're weird for turning back down an aisle instead of walking around an obviously lazy dog....

You sound like you know a lot about your dogs and have great control over your babies, so this comment is by all means not directed towards you.
I don’t think it is fair to discriminate against one particular breed...
BUT>>>Pit Bulls have a bad rep for snapping...
Before this muzzle law was enforced at least once a week you would hear about someone being malled, killed, or severely hurt by a Pit Bull.
BUT WHY??
This has ALOT to do with training and obedience and so on and so forth... but it also has to do with the chemical make up of this particular breed’s brain...
Most people I have seen with a Pit Bull has it for one of two reason
1- Protection - to strike fear onto others
2- Status - because they are lean and mean and cool to have
These dogs have all fallen into the wrong hands and unfortunately now because of people’s lack of knowledge on the breed they are all being destroyed.
The demand for this breed was so high for a while there that they were being inbred like crazy.
SOO by not allowing these dogs to be bred freely by any Tom, Dick or Harry on the street we have managed to gain some sort of control over WHO owns one of these unpredictable dogs.
By gaining this control we were able to stop the amount of these dogs that are being destroyed.
So in a way this ban was a blessing in disguise.
I don’t agree with people having there dogs taken away and euthanized UNLESS that dog has attacked for unprovoked reasons ... BUT I don’t see anything wrong with enforcing a muzzle on ALL breeds!
OH god I know I pissed some people off with this
Sorry not my intention =)

I know exactly what youre talking about,I go through the same thing with my pittbull. When take her to the park most poeple pet her,but there some poeple that are scared of her.I dont know why because she is the sweetest dog,it makes me really mad that pittbulls get such a bad rap because most of the time its the owners that make them mean and unsociable the dogs arent born that way.My pitbull has never bitten anyone, she lives with two cats, and she afraid of them!and she also help nurse my kittens, she is the sweetest dog and shes a pittbull.

AMEN!!! I think Pitbulls are the most loving woderful pets on this earth. Men make then agressive they are NOT born that way. I own 2 as well and couldnt feel safer leaving my 2 year old alone in the other room with them. Im so sick of people knocking my lovable bullies, its so unfair. So Yes I agree with you people need to get there head out of the articles and really experience what a wonderful breed this really is.

I completely agree! I think that it is bad humans not dogs that make them aggressive. Humans can turn any dog into a "killing machine" not just Pit Bulls. I have encountered in my life some very loving and well mannered pit bulls that had very loving and well mannered humans. In the same breath I have also enoutered some not so nice pit bulls belong to some not so nice humans. Any animal has the cabability of being mean or aggressive if mis-treated or trained to do so. My yougest beagle was moderately aggressive when we first adopted him and with a little love and trust and training we snuggled the aggressiveness right out of him.

The reason people behave that way is from the bad publicity pit bulls get. I personally wouldn't want to own one b/c I've heard they can turn on anybody. The likelyhood of that happening when you raise one from a pup, is probably very, very low. But, I would never trust a half grown or full grown one. I found out not that long ago, that Dalmations are very temperamental, too. I never thought about that, I guess b/c I always picture them in Disney movies or at a fire dept.

I'm prejudiced - my Baby Blue is the sweetest doggie-boy on 4 white paws but all too many people are scared of him.
Yet, like your babies, Blue is well-mannered, socialized, gets along well with other dogs, cats, babies, children, senior adult humans.
Of course it's punish the deed.
BUT that doesn't sell news stories. The media will provide such rubbish that fans the fires of BSL until we pittie-parents go to the advertisers and complain. That can help - when an advertiser sees that HIS bottom line is affected by unfair attention given to pit bulls - by losing customers - believe me, he'll speak with the media about it.

i agree with you completely! i have known some pitbulls that are complete sweethearts. it is completely how they are raised and it is so sad that such horrible things have happened to this breed. saying this though i have had moments of feeling uncomfortable when first seeing a pitbull but i think that is because of all the horror stories you read about, pitbulls and attacking people and such. so don't assume that the people are just stupid, they might be misinformed or have a gut reaction like me sometimes EVEN though i love pitbulls.........

even though i think pits aren't for everyone...simply because some people aren't smart enough or responsible enough to raise a dog ad especially a pit, i love pits in general, I was raised with pits the whole time i was growing up and we never had a single problem,,,as far as the people getting out of line to avoid your dogs.. politely thank them for letting you be waited on sooner and let them wait in the back of the line lol
