Why raise an outcry and get so angry at something you don’t believe in? And why aren’t you all out protesting and filing lawsuits over the public usage of the image of Santa or any other fictional character? What would the world be like if anything that anyone didn’t believe in was banned to prevent some oversensitive twit from taking some irrational offense at it? If you don’t believe in something, and your so sure about your opinion, why do you even care?

So is there sooooo much terrible anger here? Just asked a simple question.
What gives you all the right to push God out of the rest of the publics eyes? You’re all claiming you don’t like having this forced on you, when you all have to do is not look. Why is no one else allowed to and why is it ok for you to force your views, but not allow anothers?

One more thing. I’m not all that religious, just don’t get the your point of view. How much time do spend reading the walls of courthouses or your currency?

its not the mention of god, or even the mention of another's beliefs.

it is when you try to force those beliefs onto people.

and you do it. claims that morality comes from religion and that law should be based on religious beliefs are ludicrus and show only the stupidity of the person saying them.

claiming that "morality comes from law" or any kind of argument that laws should be based on religious beliefs opens up the door to examining the validity of those beliefs.

in these types of situations, one is claiming a faith system or belief, to be more than faith as if you are basing the operation of a society on it then you need to have concrete proof that those belifs and that belief system is in fact true as a basis for why all people, not just those that chose to believe in it should follow it.

Laws of the land you cannot pick and chose what to follow, religion you can chose which religion to follow, so if you are going to push others to believe it or act in accordance with your religious morality, you better have a hell of a lot better reason than faith.

I don't care about your belief in God What I care about is the damage you do to others with your stupid irrational belief. A great part of the suffering in the world is caused by religious people who insist that their God must have things his way. Phonies who take the meager life savings of the elderly and who wish to control peoples thoughts and deeds.

The notion of God is not offensive to me. Organised religion, that killed more people than it ever could save, does disgust me. The whole propaganda machine that wants to prove evolution is just "a belief", is offensive to me.

I have a friend who lives temporarily in the USA, who once got described by a woman as "This is X., he doesn't accept Jesus in his life." That is terribly offensive.

And mostly, having religion shoved down my throat bothers me. I don't like watching tv-show that mention God every five minutes any more than Christians like watching tv-shows with blasphemy, sex, gay content etc.
Why? Because apparently we all like the world around us to reflect our inner convictions.

I don't do that. Granted, it does seem a violation of the first amendment to have the 10 commandments in courthouses, and God on the currency, but I'm not losing sleep over it. I like Santas...

If "God believers" believe God is spiritual and everywhere , why do they get so upset when people wan't to take religious slogans like "In God We Trust " off of the Secular Money and Public Buildings ?

It isn't. I only protest when is it forced onto everything, with the attendant religious do and don't and thou shall and my way is better and you will be horribly tortured if you don't do what I say.

I am offended that you think I would be offended.

it isn't. What angers an atheist is when you christians continue to ramble your nonsense saying that we are evil and will burn in hell if we don't believe as you do. What angers us are the laws you pass based on "christian" ideals, thus FORCING others to comply to your faith. What angers us are the wars, bigotry, and depravity you do in "god's" name. You catching on to this yet? obviously, if you are a good person in spite of your indoctrination into the christian mythology, then this does not apply to you personally.

Nobody ever killed anyone in the name of Santa Claus, and nobody ever taught me that if I don't believe in him, I'll go to Hell! In short, belief in Santa is benign; belief in God is not!
