I'm on a diet. I do exercise too (mild one, like walk) three to four days a week.

I eat on average around 800 calories a day. With this diet/exercise plan, I'm losing weight gradually. Having read some of the queries and their answers here, I was just wondering is it that I'm eating too less?

i'm 170 lbs/5'2"/21years.

ps: I never starve myself. If I'm hungry, I ALWAYS (even if it's middle of a night) eat something, may be apple/milk, stuff like that.

You will lose more weight if you eat about 1200 calories a day. I know it sounds crazy but you have to eat more to lose weight! Of course you have to keep exercising!

12 years ago I wnt from 140 to 102 (IIn retrospect looked better at 140...but that is another story) by eating only 1000 calories a day and 10 grams of fat. Yeah, I lost it in about 2 1/2 months, but I put it on and then some within2 years.

Finally, a few years ago I was 150 (I looked chubby..I was...I'm only 5'4") and honestly...Ate sensibly and exercised 4-5 days a week. I weigh 125 now and have stayed thet way for 3 years.

My typical day:

Breakfast: Cereal,milk and coffee....about 200 calories

A midday snack.....granola bar.....whatever....120 cal

Lunch: Bean soup and an apple....200 calories

Afternoon snack........yogurt and an apple/fruit.....200 cal

Dinner : Pasta, sauce, broccoli and a slicceof wheat bread................about 350 calories

Snack......fudgcicle.....100 calories

about 1100 - 1200 calories

And again, I lost 25 ponds in about 2 1/2 months.

Good luck!

On the diet plan I'm on anything 900 or below is considered a starvation diet. This one says to keep calories between 1,000 and 1,100. I also do not eat after 7 pm unless it is a snack of fresh veggies or fruit. I had to cut out my favorite (Coke) and drink plenty of water with Crystal Light which helps you to feel full. If I want a soda I drink Diet 7 UP or Diet Sprite. On a recent show I watched an expert tell someone that you can't go without eating thinking you will lose weight because it isn't healthy for you. You must eat in moderation.

Beneath 1200 energy a day is not excellent. It puts you physique into starvation mode and your physique starts retaining the whole lot in. In the end you'll be able to acquire somewhat extra weight . I suggesteating about 1500 a day after which when exercising burn about 300 that equals out best. I get on the eliptical on the fitness center for 30 minutes and burn just about 300 energy its not rough but when your consuming 800 and burning off 200 or so with running thats fairly not just right!

thats a decent calorie count. it really depends on what the food is though. if its healthy stuff then you can prolly eat a few hundred more calories. but if its stuff with alot of sugar and fat then 800 is a good number. if you were running then you could prolly eat more. walking should be a step before running. always be trying to get stronger. if you stick with the same excercise you will get bored and discouraged. set goals to be able to run to the next block and then walk the rest and before you know it you'll be running the entire time!

ON AN 800 CALORIE A DAY DIET YOU ARE LIKELY TO COME UP SHORT IN SOME OF THE ESSENTIALS SUCH AS PROTEIN AND VITAMINS AND MINERALS YOU MIGHT WANT TO KICK IT UP TO 1000 CALORIES ALONG WITH A VITAMIN/MINERAL SUPPLEMENT.
