Latest theory?
The facts of evolution have been known for over 140 years and an ancient Ionian had some of the basics known over 2000 years ago.
Provide a link? talk origins is a good site. Look up evolution on wikipedia or just google it. Where humans came from isn't much different from where any other mammal came from.

No such thing as macro- vs micro-evolution. There's just evolution. It is a complex mechanism but is a singular process.
Edit: Hope, the latest theory is NOT that we are descended from apes. It is that other primates and humans share a common ancestor that no longer exists in its previous form.

Micro evolution is essentially the same thing as macro-evolution. Most biologists don't use that terminology, however creationists do.
There are tons of good links for evolution. Feel free to do your own research.

Evolution. There is no such thing as"micro-evolution" I can't even imagine what type of mechanism that you think could account for some fairly significant changes that would stop just before it got to the point of specification.

All life on Earth is related. And we can trace our ancestry back through 4 billion years. So it depends on where you want to start. RNA phenotypes 4 billion years ago; social amoebae 1.2 billion years ago; Paleozoic amniotes 550 million years ago; Eusthenopteron 375 million years ago; Lystrosaurus 240 million years ago; Ramapithecus 18 million years ago; Pierolapithecus 13 million years ago; Ardithepithecus 5 million years ago; Australopithecus 4 million years ago; Homo erectus 2 million years ago or Archaic man 1 million years ago.
