Yes you use just plain yellow cake mix. BUT, if you want, you can slip some of the crushed pineapple into that yellow cake mix to give both the cake and frosting that pineapple flavor. If you have any coconut flavoring, that would be nice in the cake too. But basically, you can just follow the box directions if you want it simple.

In fact, if you want it nice and moist, substitute the juice from the crushed pineapple for some of the water called for in the cake mix. Makes it really nice and moist.
