THIS IS SIMPLE TO DESCRIBE
AN ABSCESSED TOOTH HAS AN INFECTION OF THE NERVE. THIS OFTEN TIMES CAUSES A SWELLING NEAR THE TOOTH WHICH IS THE INFECTION TRYING TO ESCAPE THE TOOTH.
THERE ARE ONLY 2 CHOICES OF TREATMENT OF THE ABSCESS.

#1=ROOT CANAL AND CROWN, WHICH IS PREFERRED IN MOST CASES OR
#2=EXTRACTION

It is an acute infection of the nerve. Usually, there will be some swelling of the face or jaw. The pain is unspeakable. As it is forming, it is the most intense ache. Once it has formed, you'll feel a deep 'throbbing' pain, which matches your pulse. You NEED antibiotics ASAP. The infection is eating away at the bone surrounding the root of the infected tooth. The pain will start to subside within a day of starting antibiotic therapy. As soon as the infection is under control, GO TO THE DENTIST. If you don't, the infection will come back, and it will be worse. Root canal treatment happens in two parts. First the root canal, then a week or so later, the crown. It is vitally important that you follow through with BOTH. If you have the root canal, and do not go back for the crown, there will be more problems, and you could lose the tooth. Your teeth are sooo important! They're the only one's you'll ever have. Keep them at all cost!

A sign of an abcessed tooth is a little pimple on the gums that drains puss. It comes and goes, most people think that when it leaves that the tooth is better. One day you'll wake up with a whole new face because of the swelling it can cause. If ever you encouter this your choices will most likely be a root canal or extraction after being on antibiotics for a few days...you let it get too bad.

abscess is not actually in tooth. Usually gums. I have abscess and the pain in awfull. Sometimes it feels like a pulsing sensation. At the moment the pain feels as though its in my cheeks and near my ears. Antibiotics usually get rid of the infection, but it is prone to come back.

Very Painful!!! The tooth can be decayed or rotten. It may be black in the area that is abcessed. Painful when eating almost anything with sugar, sensitive to hot and cold.

Try Orajel and make a dentist appt.

Good Luck!!
