You are allowed to claim up to 2 children for earned income credit. As you are aware, the earned income credit is refundable to you even you have no income tax withheld. However, there are income limitations and other qualifications that have to be met before you may claim earned income credit.

the maximum that you will receive credit for is (I BELIEVE) three....perhaps only two, regardless of how many you are responsible for. Check the EIC (Earned Income Credit) tables in the booklet that came with your Federal Tax Return forms. There is no limit to the number of exemptions you can take, as long as you provide proof and social security numbers of each dependant.

You don't get any extra EIC money for children after the first two.
