If you have Windows XP or VIsta, you can use the Movie Maker program included free with them to join clips. Normally it is found under the Accessories in the Start Menu. If not there, you can get to it by gcreating an icon that point to "moviemkr" as its target (or typing that into the Run box in the Start menu).

However, if you are planning to burn both files to a single DVD, you do not need to join them. Name them that so that the first part is alphabetically first. Then use your DVD burning software, add them both to a new DVD project. Set the DVD menu to play the first part when clicked. Then simply burn the DVD. It will play the first part and then continue right into the second. No need to join the files.
