I had an identical adventure to JDJ. even as i replaced into youthful human beings in my church were telling me that i mandatory to receive the spirit and speaking in tongues replaced into the actual manifestation and evidence of that adventure. i tried, and had prayer classes that lasted properly into the nighttime, with elders laying fingers and so on..... on the end of a 2 365 days era, I nevertheless hadn't spoken in tongues. I had human beings telling me to "only loosen up" and commence making stuff up and this is going to come. My best problem replaced into that i didn't wish it to be a pretend adventure, it had to be genuine and from God. lengthy tale yet interior the end, it never handed off. some human beings were sympathetic, others were speaking behind my decrease back, wondering among themselves, what sin i replaced into hiding. in reality i extremely tried each little thing from fasting and prayer to laying on of fingers. no longer something worked. so as that left me feeling that I wasn't chosen by utilizing God. seems slightly hard, looking decrease back on it, yet now i understand that the rationalization all of us needed me to adventure it replaced into that it might want to justify their habit, and if someone couldn't adventure tongues, it replaced into threatening to them. Now i do not quite believe any of it. i'm agnostic, because if it replaced into in any respect authentic, then God chosen for me to no longer receive the spirit, and would not want me besides.

Never tried. I suppose it would be possible, but when one speaks in tongues, they're usually speaking at a very fast rate, so it might be hard for someone to keep up with themselves.

While I have never spoken in tongues, my very dearest friend and Christian mentor did. She was told once by a foreign student that her "tongues" was perfect Hebrew. She never studied the language.

The bottom line is that it is meant to edify the body of Christ. It is absolutely AWESOME when done appropriately. That is, if spoken in a group, there should always be someone to interpret. If there isn't, the tongues is not from God.

When my friend prayed in tongues and there was just the 2 of us, she always interpreted after her prayer. DEFINITELY edifying!

God bless!

The syllables that make up instances of glossolalia typically appear to be unpatterned reorganizations of phonemes from the primary language of the person uttering the syllables; thus, the glossolalia of people from Russia, the United Kingdom, and Brazil all sound quite different from each other, but vaguely resemble the Russian, English, and Portuguese languages, respectively. Many linguists generally regard most glossolalia as lacking any identifiable semantics, syntax, or morphology.

no. when one speak in tongues he / she is speaking a heavenly language thru the Holy Ghost unto God so in the physical one would not be able to do so

see 1 Corinthians 14:2 by the way read the entire chapter.
I pray God will open up His Words to you and grant you the wisdom to understand what you read.

Sure. Just hit random keys or write random scribbles, just like the lunatics making random sounds.

Entire books have been written (and fortunes made off the gullible sots who buy them, natch) based specifically on "ghost writing" and similar "phenomena."

I used to go to a pentecostal church, and heard people supposedly speaking in tongues. I didn't believe it then, they always seemed to be making the same sounds every week, and what would be the point in that? and I don't believe it now.
