I was making chili and thought a spice pack I picked up would be good, but the basil is WAYYYY too strong. How do I 'cut' it or make less overwhelming?

Thank you all so much for your responses. I added another can of tomato paste and a can of beans and that did the trick, it tastes fine.

It's not an easy flavor to mask. You're probably going to have to at least double everything else (meat, veggies, etc) to make the basil flavor more in line with the rest of the ingredients. Next time, only use a few leaves, taste it, and then add more if you want!

If it's not too, too overwhelming maybe you could just increase the volume of your chili. Take about 1/2 of what you have and add some more meat, beans, sauce, what every you already have and see if that helps. If it helps the 1/2 then maybe you can do the entire batch. CHILI for the year for the entire block.
Or invite about 30 people over and tell them to bring a can of their favorite item to add to HOBO Chili and dump it all in one pot and so everyone won't taste the basil.

I agree with the other poster--add to your ingrediants to lessen that flavor. I personally would add more beans and tomato sauce since they will aborb the flavor the best.
