you don't have to remove the wheel, but like they said already, you have to drop the column to the floor. but that is the least of your worries. you have to evacuate the a/c system, remove you center console, disconnect or remove components that hold the instrument panel, pull the whole instrument panel back and lay across the seats or take it completely out, then remove the heater box and dissasemble. this is a major job. if you think you can tackle it yourself i would at least recommend a manual from a parts store.

No you don't have to take the steering wheel off but the steering column needs to be dropped down. Why do you want to replace the heater core. If you have under 36000 miles it will be covered under warranty and if it is over, there is no way it should be leaking in 2yrs time. It may be plugged up but would not count on that. Take it to a Dodge dealer and speak with the Service Manager. The only way it should not be covered is if the vehicle is "salvaged"

THEY ASK YOU TO DO THIS SO THAT YOU WILL HAVE ENOUGH ROOM TO PULL THE DASH BACK AND NOT TEAR UP THE STEERING OR BREAK THE DASH.
ALSO FROM PAST EXPERIENCE I NEVER TAKE OF THE STEERING WHEEL BUT I DO LOWER THE STEERING COLUMN, MOVE THE SEAT BACK AND MOVE THE DASH DOWN AS FAR AS POSSIBLE AFTER I COVER THE WHEEL AND COLUMN WITH A FENDER COVER.
ALSO I KNOW THAT IT WAS ASKED, BUT THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY.........

I agree with dodge man. All Dodges and Chryslers, AND jeepsters have to have the dash removed to get to the heater/AC assembly. And the unit has to be removed and disassembled to get the heater core out. That's why you have to drop the steering column. For me it was easier to just remove it from the car. It ain't no job for the faint hearted.

I don't think so. Do you know where it is located? They are generally on the passenger side of the car or in the center it may even be just outside the firewall on the bottom without being able to look I can't tell you for sure I have changed them on different vehicles though and it can be a pain so good luck

your getting ready to take on a real hard job,you might want to call a dealer and see if this might be covered under warranty, because if its not your going to have to lay the whole entire dash over in the floor in order to get the heater box out of it,and this means evac-the air conditioner also,I'm telling you, that's one job you,ll probably be better off paying to have done, its very long and very hard to do,no easy way on this one at all, good luck with it.
