no don't wear the gown again. personally if you really want everyone to have fun this should include yourself...wear matching shirts that say "Mr. Smith" and "Mrs. Smith" and a picture of the two of you on the island/cruise. It'd be cute - everyone can see at least that one picture from the wedding and it'd be a keepsake you'd always enjoy seeing or wearing.

Since it's a BBQ, I wouldn't recommend a white dress at all, because that BBQ sauce can STAIN!! LOL. For the second one I would just go really casual, like jeans and a top. I actually just went to a BBQ-style wedding reception last weekend where the bride and groom were older and had been married before so they didn't want to do the whole white-dress thing, so they eloped in Vegas and just had a fun, casual BBQ a couple months later. They still had a big fancy cake and the BBQ was catered, but it was very laid-back and very fun. If you want your BBQ guests to see you in your gown, set up a laptop or TV on which there is footage of your island wedding ceremony that they can watch. Another of my friends did that when she had her reception here in Denver three months after her actual wedding in California.

If you're getting married on an island or a cruise you're not going to want a big traditional gown anyway. There are a lot of bridal sellers that have "destination" dresses, or you could also find a white dress that you like.
If you're just going to have a party afterwards, you shouldn't wear the wedding dress again. You're already married. Get another dress that you like.

If you want to wear the dress again, then go for it.
I got married in Vegas last week and am having a bbq/pool party this Saturday. I'm wearing a white hawaiian print dress and white flip flops that I decorated with lace and roses. He's wearing shorts and an aloha shirt. I just wanted to be more comfortable and relaxed at the party back home.
Congrats and Good Luck!

Depends on the dress. If you get married on a tropical island and end up just using a more casual, flowey sundress, then it might be fine to wear again to the bbq. But if it's at all formal, then I think it would look weird. BBQs are informal things by nature and you'd stick out like a sore thumb.

If the dress is formal and the reception back home is casual, you probably won't be comfortable, so you're better off just getting a nice dress for the BBQ.
I've heard of many brides who do a DW and then come home and have a formal reception and wear their dress to that again, which I think is totally fine...who gets to wear their dress twice, for as much money as they cost you should be lucky to get that kind of mileage out of it!

it's quite common to have a reception at home after a destination wedding to include all the guests who couldn't make it. guests will expect you to wear your wedding dress again, but you certainly don't have to!

I'd say get a sundress. Having a formal gown with informal beachy weddings looks silly anyway.
