it doesn't mean a guess. if you're not willing to subject your hypothesis on intelligent design to scientific scrutiny, ala the scientific method, then you can't claim that it is a legitimate scientific theory and not be lying. doesn't the bible say something about lying being bad?

this is in response to those who continually equate evolution being a theory with intelligent design being a "theory".

"And in this sense it IS equal to the Evolutionary theory when talking about the origin of life."

Thank you for proving just curious' point. Are you not even aware that the ToE says nothing about the origin of life? Apparently not. My bad.

I can only assume by your grand assertion that you don't believe that there is any scientific evidence when it comes to intelligent design. You couldn't be more wrong. You probably believe that global warming is man-caused even though that theory fails the third step of the scientific method, and then you level your scathing rebuke against the proponents of intelligent design. Even your beloved theory of evolution falls on its face when it comes to the third step of the scientific method. The sure sign of an intellectually dishonest person is when they fail to apply the same standards, and the same level of scrutiny to their own position, as they do to their opposition.

So let's get right to the heart of the matter shall we? You were born a sinful creature and you along with the rest of humanity are in rebellion against God. Evolution provides you the false sense of security in which you can deny God's existence, while professing yourself to be wise at the same time. And then you throw in a gratuitous swipe at believers every once in a while for good measure

Theories are backed up by testing and tangible proof. It doesn't mean they are perfect but the scientific community is more than willing attempt to debunk any of their claims and theories made. Nobody has a problem with the theory of gravity, yet this is theory. Maybe because it doesn't pose a threat to anybodies belief system.

I understand that certain elements of the intelligent design theory is simply a guess and can not go through the scientific method.

And in this sense it IS equal to the Evolutionary theory when talking about the origin of life.

We can not use the scientific method to know where life came from. We only have guesses. And one guess can seem more reasonable then the other.

A lot of atheists don't understand science either. No shock there either, since science is completely irrelevant of religious background. What it boils down to is that the great majority of people do not have any in depth understanding of science, and therefore the same is true or any religious, ethnic, or other subset of people - most Christians, most atheists, most Buddhists, most Jews, most Italians, most Americans, most Japanese, most whites, most blacks, etc., etc.

Of course they don't know. I used to enjoy pointing out we had 'just a theory' about gravity, too - but you dont see creationists jumping off buildings believing they can fly (if only) its such a shame...

Obviously the next question should be "Do you understand scientific fact?"

Maybe followed by "Have you actually read any current books"

Yes. Then again, I have an education beyond the third grade that I actually understand.

I agree with you.
