And explaining to them the proper procedure for neutralizing Bush vetos. He's right about the procedure... why didn't the other candidates respond to a procedural suggestion of this sort?

I realize Gravel is out there... but in this case, that was basic Law of the Land he was talking. He's suggesting Bush CAN be stopeed from vetoing every decent Bill that pops up.

Why won't the party apparachiks use their accepted procedures in this case?

They should listen to him. Gravel is pretty shrewd. He has shown many times that you can do anything in congress if you have a mind to it.

I heard him talk recently about his role publishing in the Pentagon Papers in 1970. They were being put out by the NY Times and the white house kept issuing unjunctions to stop them Daniel Elsberg was afraid they would never see the light of day and would be confiscated and destroyed. Gravel was a freshman senator and pledged to get them entered into the congressional record. But he couldn't get a forum on the senate floor.

So, he used the Capital Buildings and Grounds subcommittee, of which he was chairman. He had someone propose building some kind of monument on the Capitol grounds and he replied, "That's a good idea, but we don't have the money. We are involved in a war right now and by the way, this is how it got started..." and he began reading the Pentagon Papers. Thus they officially became entered into the public record of the US Senate.

the problem with this their bait tactic is that people are used and treated as animals! i am sure there are rewards for these items in a country that is in war. as a result some poor people will try to find these items and make a living! so we end up killing the very people who we suppose to liberate! it shows the true face of our intentions in the region! peace

I thought it was great. I'm hoping they heard it.
Gravel isn't that far "out there". It's hard for some to hear that much truth and innovation at once.
