I am not sleepy or tired. I can get out of bed with the help of pills. I just dont feel like being tied to a specific place within certain hours. I dont feel free then. The feeling of having to do it not because wanting to do it.

Yes it does cause you to not go into work, it causes you to not do anything social sometimes, i suffer everday trying to get myself into work. It does not mean you are lazy at all and that sucks becasue you may get called lazy, it also causes you to want to sleep alot and not want to do much of anything at all, everyday activities becoming exhausting and boring. You feel like nobody understands you. Withdrawling from social activities or things you enjoyed before or things like work is a main symptom of depression. I was on depression medicine for a while and it worked great which gave me the impression i was better so i stopped taking it unfortunatly 3 months later i am back to feeling depressed again, which apparantly is something they tell you happens alot. So i reccomend talking to a doctor if you havent already an starting on some meds, it doesnt go away by itself and eventually made me loose my job from calling in so much.. GL

Yes & yes to your questions. And no you aren't lazy. Depression can make us not want to do anything as can anxiety, You need to be on an anti-depressant for sure and probably anxiety meds. You'll feel so much better when you are.. But you must stay on it even when you feel better or you will go downhill again. I take Wellbutrin for anti-depressant and Xanx for anxiety, Try to find another job if possible or have your Doc write you off for a few weeks until the anti-depressant kicks in. Lots of us have been where you are. I know I have. Good luck and plz get some treatment.

A pronounced part of depression is a loss of energy and interest in everyday activities. You also may be sleepy alot. And feeling anxious all the time will impair anyone's ability to function 'normally'. You need to see your doctor about the depression and a counsellor about the anxiety as you probably know or are.

The things you can do yourself is to keep regular sleeping hours, eat properly, try to do something active each day like you used to like visit friends and do a little exercise a day. Looking after yousrself pyhsically will help allievate soome of the symptoms and healthy body = healthy mind.

Hi.. i have both too.

Depression isn't your fault, and anxiety? And depression and anxiety seem to go hand-in-hand for many.

Depression can cause a person to want to isolate, and be alone.. i understand this very well.

Perhaps you can talk to your doctor? If you are already on meds, and if they are not working properly, you can always let the doctor know you need a change.

take care of yourself, ok?

I had depression several years ago. I physically could not get out of bed in the morning. You might as well have asked me to pick up a car. You should talk to your doctor about this. There are treatments that work.

it could also be that there are people at work that are contributing to feelings of depression and anxiety. it might just be time for a new job where they respect you more.

at work we had a woman that had panic seizures in one department where people yelled and screamed all the time -- she transferred to another department and was employee of the month.

she had a co-worker that was a similar wreck -- i was talking to her after she left and she realized after the fact that the two were often pitted against eachother in competition for the amusement of the head of hr -- kind of like pitt bull fighting only with office workers. it was something that was hard to understand until she was out of the situation.

don't forget changes are often for the good.

Depression can definitely make you feel like you don't want to go to work. In fact, it can make you feel bad enough that you don't want to get out of bed.

Absolutely! Both can cause you to just want to stay in bed for days and do nothing.
