Maybe it means something if you're catholic, but I'm not. I don't believe the Virgin Mary appears to anyone, nor that she stayed a virgin her whole life, or Joseph would have divorced her (that was grounds for divorce in biblical times as well as today). If they do see something, why do they think its the supposedly Virgin Mary and not Mary Magdalene, who was right up there with the disciples anyway? Its not like they have a clue what either of them looked like.

There could only be four possibilities for this:
1) The virgen Mary did manifest herself on numerous
occasions, for whatever reasons to warn or please us.
2) The sightings were just mere tricks of light giving the
impression of a virgen Mary shape.
3) The sightings are demon related in order to misguide
believers to pray to Mary instead of praying to God
through Christ. (Read your Bible on this)
4) These sightings are extraterrestrials, either literally
appearing like a semblance of the virgen Mary or just
using mind control on us to think we saw the virgen Mary.
Take your pick. Personally, I don't think these sightings are truly divine from God.

It proves that it satisfies a yearning in these folks for some sign that the Lord and the saints are still with us. In this hard, cynical, unbelieving, untrustworthy, cruel, sinful world, sight of a sign like this brings comfort and reassurance.

2)People are gullible, naive and superstitious
3) that if you look hard enough at anything you will find something that looks like a human form, it's hard wired in our brains.

Yes, it is proof that anyone can see what they want to see in anything. Miraculous sightings like this are just Satan taking advantage of the superstitious.
