Who else found the film "Dogma" to be very close to their beliefs???
I loved that movie, it was hilarious, and I know it wasn't intended to effect anyone spirituality. But the whole time I have watched that movie, I was just amazed. Almost everything that was said in the film had to do with what I thought.

That NO religion has nailed it perfectly yet.
God is neither man nor woman. So you could say father, or mother if you wish.
Jesus was not white! Due to where he is from, he would have either been black, or extremly dark skinned.
Jesus was not a only child! He had brothers and sisters! There is tons of proof.
To believe that Mary was always a vrigin, her whole life, is stupid. "To believe that a married couple never got down with it, is just plain hypocrasy"

Call me stupid. But I like to throw logic in with faith.

Anyone agree/disagree???

Great movie and it did make some most excellent points.

I don't agree on several things: if there was a true religion I'd expect it to be fairly right i.e. the religion is 100% correct but the followers may not be. Jesus was most likely more olive skinned (dark or light, think "Hebrew") due to where he was from and his genes. While it's likely that he existed, there is very little proof that he did. God on the other hand has less evidence for "its" existence.

I loved the part where the demon is killed by the blessed golf clubs.

It was intended as a spiritual statement, with the comedy used as a means of selling the message. It reeked of intent, and preached more that the movie The Ten Commandments.

As to agreeing, well no. Religions all seem myths to comfort us about death and give our lives meaning. There is no evidence of the supernatural, fun movie though.

Logic must have its basis in fact. We are not told that we will find God using "our logic", but by believing Gods Word recorded in the Bible as TRUE indeed.

Religion is man's attempt to reach God. God never told us to come to a RELIGION, but to come to HIMSELF. He alone has the criteria for our salvation, which is to believe in the death, burial and resurrection as sufficient to reconcile us to Himself. 1 Cor. 15:1-4

God describes Himself as a He. He says He manifests Himself as God the FATHER, God the SON, and God the Holy Spirit.

Jesus would have indeed have been dark skinned.

Jesus had sisters and brothers, but He alone claimed to be God in the flesh, and didnt have an earthly "father" in the sense of other human beings. He was 100% God and 100% man.

Mary was indeed a virgin when The Holy Spirit came upon her and she conceived Jesus. The Bible says so. After Jesus birth, she enjoyed a normal marriage relationship with her husband , Joseph, and the Bible tells us that she had other children.

God tells HIS STORY in the scriptures. That is the ONLY true accounting of events as they happened and the instructions that God has left for mankind are found there.

Its not so important that we have "beliefs" as it is to make sure that what we believe is in actuality, THE TRUTH. Only God has promised to give us the TRUTH, and religion is mans idea what that truth might be.

I want to be SURE...and God says that I , and everyone else CAN KNOW what the truth IS. It is found in His Word, rightly divided. That is to say, that we must RECOGNIZE the difference between Gods plans and purposes for the NATION ISRAEL under JUDAISM, and His plans and purposes for we who are the church, which is His body, under Christianity.

Peter and the 12 were the apostles to the Nation Israel.
Paul is the apostle to we who are the body of Christ today.

Both were appointed BY God.

Mary and Joseph weren't married! So it is possible that they had not had sex. They were bethroled which means they were promised to be married it was a bit more binding than just an engaement is nowadays and to call off a bethrol is similar to getting divorced today but they were not married so yes she was a virgin when she got pregnant with Jesus.

The bible doesn't say that Jesus was an only child so I'm not sure where you are debating that information from.

You should learn a bit more about what you talk about.

Mary and Joseph married later but were not married when Jesus was born

I sorta agree...

The only thing I would disagree with is the fact that God is always referred to in the Bible...even by Jesus, as HE or Father.

But I do agree with the fact that Mary would not have been fullfilling the commandment in Genesis if she remained a virgin her whole life. She was married...and it does say in the Bible that Christ had brothers and sisters.

Close to my beliefs? No

Funny? Yes

I am not kidding, the church where my cousin got married has a crucifix that looks a lot like Buddy Jesus.

I liked it. I think it frames religion nicely. It isn't quite in line with my beliefs, but is a whole lot closer than fundamental christianity fo sho.

It's a very fun movie but that's ALL it is. It's make-believe based on mythology.
Don't put more into it than that.
