can virusses affect the way a organism grows?

Can there be any virus or nutritious product or some freak coincidence (bacteria in potatos) make people in some countries a lot taller than world-averageheights?

To a full-grown person, it cannot happen like in the movies. For mutations such as you describe to occur, you would have to have very active cell division. In the adult, that is not occurring (the enteric epithelium and hematopoietic progenitor cells excepted).

However, in science, 'transformation' has a very different meaning. It refers to the process of a cell becoming immortal, essentially cancerous. That can and does often occur as a result of viral infection even in full-grown adults.

As for 'mutating the hell' out of a full-grown adult. The answer is no. No zombies will result from a viral infection.
