It's not a prophecy.

Some goofballs got ahold of the Mayan astronomicall calendar and noticed that it ended in 2012 on Dec 21st. Somehow they conflated it with Christian mythology and suggested that the Mayans "knew" that the world was going to end on that date.

Evidently it never entered their heads that the Mayan calendar had to end sometime since there weren't any Mayans around to continue adding dates.

Well, the Bible says that we cannot know the day or the hour in which Christ will return, but they do give us some clues about what will be happening in the world just before He comes.
I don't know, but for some reason, 2012 popped into my head a few years ago as a significant date, and this was before I'd ever heard that anybody else had the same idea. The only theory I could come up with is that 2012 is a presidential election year; if the liberals win in 2008, they may then betray the United States by turning the control of our country over to the U.N., who hate America and our Constitution. It is possible that by the next election in 2012, we may be a conquered country, and the American era will be at an end. The Bible speaks of the "image to the beast", which retains all the power of the first "beast" of Revelation, and forces the whole world to obey it. The "image to the beast" is described as a country that rises up out of a relatively unpopulated area in about 1798, which starts out with civil and religious liberty, and is a Christ-like country, but eventually ends up speaking like a dragon (Satan). This description fits the United States to a "T". A conquered U.S. with the U.N. at its helm would have the power to do what Revelation says it will do. The last several presidents have been globalists, especially the last 3. I think that soon America as we know it will cease to exist. Also, due to terrorist activity here at home, like in Oregon, where terrorist training camps exist, and in the inner cities where black youth are being conscripted into Islam, and several attempts at detonating nuclear bombs in large American cities have been temporarily thwarted, it is believed that there is a 50% chance of a nuclear attack on an American city within the next 10 years. God help us.

Believers are not to predict the time of Jesus's return, but they are to be aware of the signs. Many people, believers and non-believers alike, see the signs that something is happening around them. A lot of them confirm their beliefs because they look at the ancient Mayan calendar and see that it ends in 2012.

Many of the prophecies have been fulfilled, the biggest being the restoration of the nation of Israel.

Because the Mayan calender, which spanned for thousands of years, ends on that year. Decemvber 21st as a matter of fact. And anyway, the prophecy wouldn't be fulfilled until the end of the world and by then you wouldn't know. But the calender would have to stop somewhere wouldn't it? No one would be around to finish it after the fall of the Mayans...

I hope it does. Let's get to the good stuff. But really, no one knows when the Father will send His Son again. Some believe there could be as much as 350 years left. Some more. Point is, don't wait to accept Christ. He can show up today without being noticed. You're right about prophecy. Not every single prophecy must be satisfied before Christ returns. But they must all happen before God's holy plan is complete.

The Milky Way Galaxy is the inspiration for the symbol of the Ouroboros. Myth refers to a serpent of light residing in the heavens. The Milky Way is this serpent, and viewed at galactic central point near Sagittarius, this serpent eats its own tail. The Milky Way galaxy keeps a great time cycle that ends in catastrophic change. The sign of the Suntelia Aion is the sun rising out of the mouth of the ouroboros, which will occur on the solstice December 2012 - which links with the Mayan Calendar as a symbolic date for the clse our our reality - virtual reality program - Quetzalcoatl - and escalating Earth changes in the Ring of Fire.

it's a significant event. whether or not it's the end of the flesh age? Dunno. reckin' we'll find out in another 4.5 years. as the recent increase of massive earthquakes along the ring fire indicate, the earth is "quickening" or having "birth pangs".
the "end gereration" began in 1948 with the planting of the fig tree. as Jesus made clear, until that event there would be signs but no end. now that that event has taken place we certainly are in those times and seasons and that event could be something.

for in the last days, there shall come scoffers walking after their own lusts saying where is the promise of his coming? for all has remained the same since the fathers fell asleep. but beloved be not ignorant of this one thing, that a day with the lord is a thousand years and a thousand years as day, the lord is NOT Slack concerning his promise as men count slackness but is longsuffering usward NOT willing that ANY Should perish, but that all should come to repentence. 2 Peter 3.

Because people will believe anything and if they believe it hard enough, they can make it happen. Much like a child dreams of being a rock star and trains and trains, some morons like to think the world is going to crash so they subconsciously do all the things that may contribute to it.

Luckily, they rarely come to power but it is normally the dumbest people that do. Basically, most of the planet is hovering around mental retardation

I believe that its the Mayan calendar that predicts Dec, 21, 2012 as the end.

Who knows what may happen in the world till then, there's a pretty good chance that it could be!

As I understand it,time is comprised of many enormous cycles within cycles,2012 is the end date of many of these simultaneously,a hugely significant event. It may or may not be the end of the world, but it will be the end of a great "age".It will not only be an ending of these cycles but also a great new beginning of a new age.
