I agree with the veggie burger. Also, mayo is full of fat, even the "lite" stuff isn't too great. I use organic ketchup, free of corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup. I used to buy the conventional stuff but switched during my pregnancy. My husband found it first and we figured that if I didn't need that junk, our baby certainly didn't. Now, I can't even tolerate conventional ketchup when we eat out and have actually considered taking some of our organic ketchup with us. Organic ketchup also has sugar in it, but it's natural. We buy the Kroger grocery store brand; We tried the Trader Joe's grocery store brand, but we didn't like it as well, though they're' the same size (18 or 20 ounces, I'm not sure) and about the same price.
As for calories, ketchup, both organic and conventional both have about 15 a tablespoon. Mustard, which is all-natural (even conventional brands like French's and store brands), is calorie free. Therefore, I just buy whatever is cheapest. (I currently have a bottle of French's becuase it was free with sale price and coupon.)
Anyway, I hope this helps.

First off, it depends on weither you are talking about a home made or a fast food burger. Also so, is it a fried or a grilled burger.
If it is a fast food burger, it doesn't matter very much, because they are all bad for you, and don't get me wrong, I love McDonald's Double Cheese-burgers with a passion, but they are the worst thing you can eat, if your trying to watch your calories and cholesterol intake. Burger King, Hardees, Wendy's, and all the rest of the (Hamburger joints) are no better. If it's fried, leave it alone.
Now if it's home made, it's better by a long shot, but baked or grilled is always better than fried. As far as the condiments go, use what you want to use, but do it in moderation. Say, one tablespoon of each or one or the other. I wouldn't be so much concerned with the sugar as I would the fat and sodium (salt) content. Anything you eat can be bad for you if you don't use moderation.
If you want to really know how to eat healthy, look up the "American Heart Association" or the American Diabetes Foundation" on line and take a look at the portions and they will even give you a chart to go by on or as what and how much to eat. Good luck.

Mayo has cholesterol and Ketchup is usually high in sodium - Go for mustard. I started eating healthier last year and now when I need a sauce for dipping, etc., I call on the mustard, less calories, less sodium and no carbs.
Wanna kick it up:
2tbsp yellow mustard, 2tbsp your choice ranch dressing, dash or 2 of red pepper (cayenne) and 2tbsp water - mix it good -
KICK BUTT SAUCE!
I call it 'Spicy Ree Sauce'.
My husband has become addicted to it, on sandwiches, as a dip - even plain. And it's not only healthy, but the cayenne pepper is also good for you.

Definitely mayo is the worst. But remember that you have other choices, mustard, honey mustard or bbq at most fast food places and all these are better choices over mayo. And refined sugar is hard to completely eliminate from your diet. Remember moderation is the key!

If you are trying to eat healthier a turkey or a veggie burger would be better and then yo can stick a slice of cheese on it. If you are going to put mayonnaise on you burger use light. Unless you plan on putting a pound of ketchup on your burger it shouldn't be that bad.

Neither is really good for you. If you watch the subway commercials Jared soesn't use either one. If I were to recommend something use lemon or lime, but be careful all fruits and veggies turn into sugar so becareful. I took nutrition in college to get my degree. I know a plain sandwich is boring and dry or try just a little vinegar and oil.
