My son is nearly 2 1/2 years old and hates taking liquid medicine. Any of you veteran parents have any ideas? Thanks!

I always mixed it with a little bit of her favorite juice.

Honey, I know exactly what you are going through, My two step kids would just about jump out of a window, when they heard they were the ones going to be taking the medicine.
They would let it ooze out of their mouth or the baby she is three now, would just refuse to take it or would spit it out..
If you buy a syringe, one that has 5mls on it...Or ask your doctor they should be able to give you one for free, even your pharmacist....They work wonders. put it in the child's mouth, stick it back just a little, and shoot... Also let The child can"HELP" you do this, by pushing the top down on the syringe, this makes it less of a bad thing and more of a nicer thing..Thought no matter the child's age. speak with them on the importance of medicine safety, and tell them that you are the only one allowed to do this. some kids are never told about medicine being a danger as well and they can sometimes try and take medicine when they don't need it...BEST OF LUCK>

My 2 1/2 year old twins hate it too! we've had success using an oral syringe and putting meds in juice. if the medicine tastes REALLY bad we put it in ice cream - goes down like a charm :)

good luck!

well they make all sorts of good tasting medicines for kids, although I'm sure you've tried those already.....lol. Also are you trying with a spoon, or one of those little "turkey baster" things? if not try with that and just "shoot" it down his throat before he even get a chance to cry about it. Other than that unfortunately it's just a matter of "making" him take it.......ie holding his mouth open and putting it in there and making him swallow.......it stinks, but my son is now 3.5 and he did the same things as your son, but now he just takes it like a "big" boy

Don't know if they still have them, but my grandson liked those ones made into suckers.
