These are great because they look really fussy and elegant, but are almost no work to make. I make these for our Christmas party every year and they're always the first thing to go.
Brie and Caramelized Onion "Palmiers" (about 1 1/2 dozen)
--1 large or 2 small-to-medium yellow onions, thinly sliced
--3 tablespoons butter
--1 to 2 teaspoons brown sugar, to taste
--1/4 teaspoon salt or to taste
--1/2 teaspoon white wine (or cider) vinegar
--1 sheet puff pastry (available in boxes in the freezer section of any supermarket--Pepperidge Farm is the brand I use), thawed
--4 ounces Brie or Camembert, rind removed, allowed to soften at room temperature
--2 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves, or 3/4 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
--1 egg, beaten with 2 teaspoons water
In a large skillet, heat the butter until foamy and cook the onions with the brown sugar, salt to taste, and the vinegar over medium-low heat until onions are golden-brown, stirring frequently. Depending on your onions, this might take only 10 minutes or up to 25. Just don't let them burn! Drain any excess liquid off and let cool.
On lightly floured surface, roll pastry into an 11-inch X 8-inch rectangle. Cut the Brie into cubes and scatter it over the pastry as evenly as you can (but don't worry about it too much). Spread the cooled onions over. Sprinkle with the thyme. Roll up one long side of the pastry just to the middle of the dough. Roll up the other long side in the same way, so that they meet in the center. With a sharp serrated knife, cut the roll into 1/2-inch-thick slices.
Line a couple of baking sheets: use parchment paper to line them if you have any, but otherwise use foil and spray it with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place the pastry slices on the sheets, leaving a little space in between them. With the palm of your hand, flatten them slightly to about 1/4-inch thick. (They will rise and puff quite a bit in the oven.) Refrigerate 15 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 375.
In small bowl, beat together the egg and water. Brush the mixture over the slices. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 14 minutes or until puffed and golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperature. Since it's a scrapbooking party, have a box of baby wipes handy--I'm not kidding! They do a great job of removing grease; my son's been out of diapers for 5 years and I still don't know how I'd get along without wipes for sticky faces and hands, instant spot removal, and a million other things...
P.S: the last time I served these, I served baked stuffed mushrooms and a huge platter of pears, apples and grapes alongside. They went well together and nothing else was really needed.
Hope you have fun at your party. My grandma recently moved to PA from Seattle, so if you see her, say hi for me. :)

I belong to a Rubber Stamp group and have attended a few Scrapbooking parties in the past.
Here are a few things you could bring:
Cocktail weiners heated in a mixture of 1 (7 oz) jar of raspberry preserves and 1/4 c white vinegar (will taste sweet/sour - very good)
If you have a crockpot - the above and this recipe work great in it:
1 can Campbells Cheddar Cheese Soup
1 can Denison's Chili without beans
1 pint sour cream
1 1/2 c shredde Cojack cheese
Mix all together and heat until hot. Serve with Tortilla chips or Doritoes. The soup and chili above taste really nasty if you eat them alone but mixed like this - they taste great!
Both of the above can be made when you are there. At the parties I've gone to, they serve the food about half-way through the party. Just use high until all is mixed and then turn the crockpot down to low to keep it warm. Stir occasionally.
I normally bring a meat dish and the dessert to our parties. That's just what I do.

Oh this is so fun! I love scrapbooking! Although... make sure you keep the food away from the books and plenty of napkins out. Two of my fav. appetizers are Stuffed Mushrooms --- which are so so so easy to make and then the other one is a bacon wraped date. Also so easy to make!
For the Stuffed Mushrooms -
Get about 30 - 40 whole white mushrooms at the store and wash them then take out the stem (they pop out real easy) then get some bacon and chop it up into small little peices (like bacon bit size) and fry them up in a pan. Then get a brick of cream cheese and throw it in the micro for about 35 seconds or until its soft enough to stir. Then when the bacon is done, add that to the softened creamcheese and add a little bit of the bacon grease too for flavor and then mix it all up. Put a spoonful of each mix in to the mushroom ( where the stem was) and throw it in the oven at 375 for 20 minutes! So Yummy! Let cool for about 10 minutes.
As for the bacon wrapped dates..... so simple. Get a container or whole pitted dates and and package of bacon and some toothpicks. Take a date and wrap it in a piece of uncooked bacon then stick a toothpick through it so it stays together. Do that to all of them. Place them on a backing rack and throw them in the oven for 45 minutes at 400. Let them cool for about 5 minutes or so. You will love these!
