there is no way to tell what Jesus intended with out the aid of a time machine and since we have no such thing you should just let the question rest and not worry about it too much. I don't think the priests are lying cause they don't know ether, they are just doing what they think God wants, and trying to make the world a better place. well most of them are... So you shouldn't make claims which you can not back up because the bible is really the only account of Christs life that we have, so you answer would be in there I guess. Hope thats helpful

Jesus wasn't even TEACHING the religion of the Jews, and just in all he SAID tells he resented Judaism. He down played the roles given by the hebrews to Abraham, Moses, Elijah and exclaiming to the Jews of his time that prophets who had been sent amongst them would be killed by them. The FAITH Jesus "taught" had nothing to do with Judaism but was seen as blasphemy by the Jews because it's connection was that to the faith of the ancient "Egyptians."
THAT is what got Jesus crucified, but one problem that was never forseen is the fact many of those he was teaching this faith TO were Jews and THEY did not see the connection to the ancient sacred books of Egyptian faith.
1. Jesus taught eternal life, NOT a Jewish belief but an Egyptian one
2. Talked of the flesh and blood as a sacrifice, also a belief of Pharaohs who would lay down their LIVES in hard times to the Lord in heaven as a sacrifice for his peoples so times would get better.
3. Taught of the resurrection. Also an Egyptian belief that stems from the resurrection of Osiris
4. Taught of the mansiions in his Father's house, which is WRITTEN in the papyrus of Nebseni, an egyptian priest of the 18th dynasty
5. Taught that ONLY through him could anyone come unto the his Father in heaven, JUST as the priest would call themselves the Osiris's or "way" into heaven once they left this world for the afterlife.
NEED I say MORE..........

Judaism was the forerunner to Christianity. Jesus did, in a way, reform Judaism...what Christians would call 'fulfilled God's plan.' But a new 'religion' was born. A new fellowship of believers was created. A new plan to worship God was instituted.

Actually if you truly think about it He did not start a new religion. He did just reform Judaism. Christianity is what Judaism should be today.

I don't think he did intend to start a religion. But Disciple Paul wanted to continue Jesus' teachings, and so founded the Catholic church.
You have to remember, when you talk about Paul founding the Catholic church, that he did so out of his love for Jesus, and wanting to share that love with as many people as he could.

Judaism pointed to Jesus (the concept of sin sacrifice). Its relevance ceased with his resurrection.

you are right. after jesus was gone , the persons in power at that time founded a completly different religion with jesus in the centre.
because nowadays christians don't concentrate on the spiritual side and original teachings of jesus.

jesus sought to reform some of the practices by the religious leaders in judism at the time.
i don't even think he wanted to change anything about the religion, I believe he thought that certain practices weren't in line with what the religion actually was.
