The blind spot is such a startling piece of evidence for evolution. It would have been so easy for an intelligent designer to bundle the nerves behind the photosensitive layer.

is that a serious question?
look at the genral design starting with the skull. the skull has little tiny bones that hook mucles and tendons to the eyes, like a pully system. the eye is the ablsolute most complex thing in the human body. the mear fact that we can even move our eyes is so amazing due to the design of the skull and eye socket. you should do some more research before you ask a question like that. blindness and detatching retnas are 'mutations' such as glasses or allergies, they are not common for everyone. the blind spot on the eye is extrodinarily common, unless you are a spider, or a chemeleon. spiders have very simple eyes, and as for chameleons, their eyes have to be that way to look out for preditors and hide from them [camoflauge]. if you are simply jelous that we can not change our color or see calidascope style, then maybe you are asking the wrong question than simply why do we have simple eyes. you have been proven wrong in two ways, and here is a third. our eyes [those some creatures are better at this] can change from lighted areas to darkened areas very fast [pupils]. this is an advantage, because if they could not change fast we would basically be screwed. we are also the only [i think] the only creature that is able to see color, millions of shades, those who cant have mutations in the genetics.
and to state something that may help you out even more.
the human being is not the best creature in terms of physical ability, in fact, the human body is quite inferior to that of other beasts. the fastest man who ever lived can be outrun by nearly every dog that has ever lived or ever will live, the strongest human in the world can look like a weakling next to any ape, and human hands cant claw through much of anything that a bear can. but humans are supirior in that we are the only creature that can reason. we have the ability to create, moreso than some chimpanzee using a stick to get termites, but look at what we have created. we are supiorior in that we can create tools and weapons to rule the animal kingdom and force all creatures into submission, for we are humans, lord of all that is, we bow down to no man other than the creator of the best, the LORD our God.
we are extrodinarily complex, do your research, go back to college and take a human anatomy course. you will be suprised at what you will find out.

You are dwelling on the negative aspects. In truth, if it were not for original sin, we would not have to worry about the ailments that you mention. Here are some facts about the eye that may... open your eyes to your blessings.
The human eye contains many complexities as well as
amazing facts that seem almost fictional. Like a Camera,
the eye contains a self-adjusting aperture, an automatic
focus system and an inner surface surrounded by pigment
to minimize the scattering of stray light!
Some interesting facts:
* The eye adjusts to 10-billion fold changes in
brightness adjusting for daylight and the dimmest
moon light
* A color analysis system allows the eye to
distinguish millions of shades of colors
* Eye translates a depth perception beyond any
known camera
* The iris has more distinguishing characteristics then
a finger print, finger prints contain 35 measurable
points, and an iris has 266
* The chances of two people having matching irises
is 1 in 10 to the 78th power
* The retina has 127 million photovoltaic receptors, 7
million of which is designated for color awareness
and fine detail
* On a clear dark night the eye can see a lit candle
from 30 miles away
* Each fiber of the optic nerve processes one
hundred pictures or "photos" each second

If there was an Intelligent Designer, the octopus is favored over man. The configuration of the octopus retina is is such that there is no blind spot, but the octopus has an equally complex eye otherwise. Human retinas would be better if the epithelium wasn't "upside down".

Light enters the LENS of the eye and turns into electrical impulse that travels along optical nerves to the brain, Where the pictures are "seen".

Don't forget that the layers of the eye are inside-out, with the blood vessels blocking the light-sensitive rods and cones...

so your argument is this: if we're not perfect, how can there be a God?
Except for the 'blind' spot, which you'd never notice if you just lived life and no one ever told you, everything else you list is the result of aging or injury, which is a result of being mortal.
