Did you know about the year without a vacation before he signed the contract? You need to talk with the place where you're having the cerimony and reception and see if you can change it.

You don't say why this situation is so "urgent". Are there serious issues involved or are you just in a hurry to get married?
If he thoroughly explained the situation and the boss has rejected his request, there's not much that can be done. Your fiancee signed a contract that states no vacation until the year is up, and the boss is well within his rights to deny the request. Being in a hurry to get married is not grounds for the boss to grant a waiver to the contract.
Reservations can be changed. I suggest talking to the church and rescheduling the wedding.
Good luck.

If he were just working in Europe or something it would probably be no problem for him to come back. However, if he's working in a place where it's difficult to travel to and from (outskirts of Russia, Iraq, Africa) it might be a different story.
Honestly I think you did this to yourselves. If he was on a contract that didn't allow vacation time, you should have waited and had the wedding after the contract ended. What's the rush?

Check to see if your state allows someone to step in on behalf of the groom.
You planned this wedding on an assumption that the boss would grant him leave. The boss has every right to not let him go, it's not like you were in an accident or anything it's an event that was planned disregarding the terms of his contract.

It sounds like, without a groom, you won't be getting married on November 1st. If your groom signed a contract and he knew he was going to need time off that should have been worked into the contract. His employer has no legal obliglation to give him time off. Even though the wedding is important to you all its not like a funeral. It can be rescheduled.
Maybe you can have the wedding wherever he is at or just wait till next June.

He must have known that your wedding date would conflict with his signed contract and you should have changed the wedding date when he signed the contract.
He will have to fulfill his contract, he will need a job after your marriage. You will have to change the wedding date to a time when he will be back home. If you are pregnant and have to hurry with a wedding, you are not going to be able to do any different. You can do nothing but re-arrange the wedding plans to fit his schedule it is just the way things are.
Next time, think ahead.

if he can't take vacation... there are two options left as i see it... he can quit or you will have to change the date... why would he sign a contract for a year with a wedding date 5 months later???? and if the date was set after he took the job then it only makes since that you knew this would probably happen and i would just change the date... good luck!!

There isn't anything to do you should have checked with the boss before making any concrete plans. I'm afraid you will have to eat the deposit and start over, or he could go back on the contract he signed.

Sorry, but his boss does not have to be "understanding." Your fiance signed a contract and his boss has every right to make him uphold it.
He'll have to either quit his job, or you'll have to reschedule the wedding.

It sounds like your fiance is going to have to choose between his job (which sounds oppressive and inflexible) and his wedding.
Really, who wants to work for a boss who doesn't give him a vacation day for his own wedding?
