When they put themselves in that position in the first place?
"I've lived here for 7 years with my son, who was born here. They caught me and are horrible people for enforcing the law."

Maybe I should mention I'm a born American Citizen, third generatino born in America on all sides, and this question is not about me.
The most obvious example I pulled from is Elvira Aurello(sp?), who hid out in my state for over a year.

Because the illegal immigrants have convinced themselves that they are somehow special, so the law does not apply to them. And when the law does apply to them, it shouldn't, because they are special.
They figger if they can come in here without being caught, and stay a while without being caught, then they have won and deserve the prize. Like a game of hide-n-seek.
It's probably important to remember that they come from countries where the laws are different and are enforced differently. They have certain expectations that don't work here although they are demanding that they DO work.

I am often accused of being a cold-hearted libertarian/republican/conservative, but I think that the breaking up of these families is necessary. I feel some remorse for their loss, but they shouldn't have broken the law. I see it as a major problem that aliens can come here illegally and then stay simply because they had a child. If they're so concerned about keeping their family together they should have had the child while legally here, or else gone through the legal process of bringing the whole family over.

In a word-selfishness
It's the me,me,me mentality.
It's a failure to realize that yes, the American dream comes with a price.
You can't just waltz in here because you think the grass is greener over here without bothering to go through the immigration process and think you deserve anything but prosecution.
No where in the world do people just waltz across a border without going through the legal means of gaining entry and expect to be treated as if they are above prosecution for their criminal entry into a nation.
If you wish to be in America, you must meet the criteria set forth by homeland security to be issued a visa. That criteria exists to protect the United States of America and her legal residents not to cater to those who think they have a right to claim something they don't deserve.

You broke our laws. They are now being enforced. They should have been all along. It is wrong for you to think that somehow you were exempt from law enforcement. You were buying time, which has expired. All you can do now is apply for legal entry.
Our citizens are now taking this issue very serious and we are watching our politicians on this. They are no longer allowed to let the masses in just to get votes.
Sorry if this seems harsh, but we must control our borders.

Its all excuses and complains by the illegals.
They expect US to treat them good when Mexican immigration punishs you severely if you are an illegal in Mexico.
If family is more important to them, then go back to Mexico with your family where you will not have immigration problems. I think they are showing their children a bad example by crossing the border illegally, cheating and expecting everything free.
No free lunch.
If one wants to stay, work here, apply legally to get into this country.

Really, they CAN'T get angry. Not justifiably anyway. Take the kids with and then try to come back LEGALLY. A child is NOT a free pass.

You knew what could happen and took a chance. How do you think the legal immigrants feel after going through all the red tape to come here, while someone like you sneaks in? You have no one to blame but yourself.

Because when they first get there alot have it in their mind that they are going to work save money and then move back to their country. Then they get here and they see how life is in America and then they dont want to go back to their countries so they make families and have homes and hope that one day they can become legal.

Families do not have to be broken up. They are free to take their kids back to their country so it's just an excuse to use "my family will be broken up".
Ending birthright citizenship would help to solve this problem.
