Nope they are not contradictory at all. Neither are the exclusive of each other. By intelligent design, it is meant that there was a Designer who built all we see. God breathed life into the universe and allowed free will to take over. Of course we were designed on a molecular level. By creating from nothing, all things are created and brought into existence, including molecules. Mud is made of of molecules, right?

Any 2 religions picked at random contradict one yet another. Islam and Christianity to illustrate; Muslims have self belief muhammad grow to be a prophet, Christians do not. this could be a contradiction.

These are theories...like the thousands of scientific theories that have no proof. The Bible does not have enough information on the creation of the universe to substantiate either. It doesn't mean that God doesn't exist or God didn't create us, it simply means we don't know exactly how He did it. But it's not a problem. When I was young, I didn't need to know how my parents had me. Eventually, I did and while we don't know, right now, exactly how God created us, eventually we will.

It's impossible to make any real sense out these two conjured-up fairy tales. The idea of a "loving god", and the relentless, cover-to-cover threats, violence, and mass killing in the bible is another indefensable contradiction. But, the Fundies are able to dance around both of these with clueless bliss.

They don't contradict each other because the creation account is not meant to be a purely historical or a "scientific" document. The creation account is primarily a theological document.

Hint: That breath of life has more to do with the soul than the mechanics of breathing.
