His main motivation for racing is to keep the Victory Junction Camp on people's minds and to help a lot of disadvantaged children. I think he does it to honor Adam as well. Much of the money he earns driving goes directly to the camp and it gives him the opportunity to talk about it in interviews.

It's not that often that you get a race car driver who has such a love for racing that he doesn't care if he wins or loses! Kyle Petty is probably the most inspiring driver to be behind the wheel! He shows that he loves the sport and he will try his hardest to win! He also loves it because of the fans!!! He reminds me a lot like Mark Martin! He has the love for the sport and they both have a love for their fans!!! If it were not for drivers like these two, there wouldn't be much of a sport and the love and passion would be gone. Lots of luck to Mark and Kyle as they both will be slowly stepping away from their rides in the future!!!

Kyle and the rest of the Petty Enterprises gang is working hard to return Petty Enterprises back to competitive form. His motivation is to keep Petty Enterprises alive. Progress is being made, but they've still got tons of work to do. It is tough to watch them struggle the way they are along with Dale Jarret. I know Dale's a better driver than what he is stuck with on race day.

Well I guess he just wants to. At least he has stayed in the top 35 and he makes races unlike say Dale Jarrett. I'm not saying I don't like Jarrett, I'm just saying that it's nice to see the seasoned veterans go out on their own terms. I'm sure that Dale Jarrett, Kyle Petty, Michael Waltrip and quite a few others still feel they have the ability to drive these cars.

My guess is it is an awesome job that I know I wouldn't mind doing. I really wouldn't care what some punk *** thought I should or should not do.
If he was interested in doing good he would change teams but he must be OK with himself doing this. Petty Enterprises has really never been a power house in the last several decades and I don't see anything changing in the near future either.

I agree with you, it's a shame that he makes the races off of owner points. But Kyle is a gentleman and it's good to have him in the pack. But I think he's great behind the mic, and I thought he was retiring from driving after this season.

This is a question about Kyle, why do ppl keep adding little remarks about dale jr. we know that jr. hasn't won this yr but come on guys, he is trying..and also I wish these Hamlin fangils would quit taking up for that loser about wrecking Kyle!
Asking why does Petty race, is like asking you why you watch NASCAR...because you love it, well Petty loves to race..give the guy a break!

because Kyle is a class act. Hamlin will never have any class. he is a punk, and I hope that he ends up racing in the truck series. Kyle gives his time to sick kids, hamlin gives his time to crying how unfair nascar is to a superstar. Kyle is more of a man than whinelin will ever be, and i hope that one day he gets what is coming to him. Good luck in that toyota next year, you are goona need it.

Would you give up a career that you love doing? As long as he's able to qualify for each race, he belongs in the show just as much as the next driver does.
* Hey LowesFedexGirl, at the end of the day it still the fact that Denny was the one that made the mistake. Perhaps Kyle was in his way, but are you really that blind of a fangirl to see that Denny had every opportunity to use his brake peddle as well?

I don't know if you heard, but Kyle Petty's dad is Richard Petty. He was Dale Earnhardt before Dale Earnhardt. They call him the king. He was the most successful NASCAR driver of all time. Without the king, NASCAR would not exist as we know it today. It's a family legacy. Kyle's son, Adam, would also still be racing if he wasn't killed in a crash.
