When I was little I used to think it was only the JWs that went door to door. I remember my mom getting angry when I accepted a watchtower when I was like 7 or 8. She said that JWs work on a point system or something.

Anyways, ever since I moved to the town I currently live in I've had JWs, Mormons, New Tribes and Baptist at my door. Have the other demoninations just recently started the door to door campaign or have I not been paying attention?

Side questions: If you DO go door to door, what have your experiences been like?

I went door to door from 10 am til 9 pm everyday for 2 years (no holidays!!!)

So to answer the side question about experiences. Most people (in Honduras) don't want to hear anything. Some are nice, some yell, some told me I was going to hell.

But some people let us in and listened to us teach. Some were really great.

One of my favorite things to do was this......
A lot of times little kids would come to the door. Their parents would have told them to say that they're not home. So after a while of that my reply would usually be, can you please ask your dad what time he'll be coming home. The kid would ALWAYS go in and say in a loud voice, "Dad, what time are you coming home!"

Worked like a charm.

Our church goes door to door, but we do not knock or annoy people, we leave door hangers, so people can look at the stuff or just throw it away. During halloween, we hand out candy and literature, again, you can eat the candy and throw the literature away or look at the literature and eat the candy, we have given away free christian books to. Sometimes people don't want the free stuff. We pray for people to, on the way. We have given away free drinks at fireworks displays and some people have gotten saved. We have given free car washes. This happen to me when I was an atheist, I refused the free car wash from the church I currently go to, because I was afraid they would preach the gospel to me, while they washed my car for free, when I got saved and they did the free car wash (to show the love of Jesus in a pratical way) I realized I had missed out on a blessing, they were never going to preach the gospel to me, unless I asked. We had Steven Baldwin come to our church with the "Livin it" skate baord dudes. People got saved then to, that was a great way to get the emos and goth teens saved.
On my romanian missions trip, we repared a questionaire and went out with our interpreters, we asked people IF they wanted to answer a few questions and invited them to a FREE barbaque on us americans at the pastors church, of course, we asked them if they wanted to get saved, a simple ye sor no would suffice. One interpreter, no matter who he went out with, got a lot of people saved.

The problem with those who go door to door and believe they are right in their belief and you prove to them Who is our Creator and that the Messhiah is the Creator Himself =they run away. It appears that the Truth hurts.
