A few Saturdays’ ago, a Christian visited my house from a local church. She said hi and wanted to know if she could pray with us 'during this difficult time'. She did not say what the 'difficult time' was.
I said okay, that I would, if she would read a pamphlet on atheism and evolution. She refused!!!!!! Can you believe that? SHE interrupted MY day to push her beliefs on ME, but then would not reciprocate and read a simple pamphlet? (I didn't really have any pamphlets, but she didn't know that).

Is this a great definition of a hypocrite?

Why would you come to my door and expect ME to be subjected to YOUR belief, but not the other way around?

You hit the nail on the nail on the head - hypocrisy! They claim we should let them have their believes but they believe that privilege is a one street that is on their side of the road.

at the beginning understand who a Christian is. Jehovah's Witnesses are no longer and so a techniques as orthodoxy is going - Mormon's are not the two. i do no longer understand the thank you to truly complication those men via fact they are properly versed, ok knowledgeable and alter into much extra extreme if bated. you may would desire to understand your stuff to have interplay in a hefty debate. I handle Mormon's via fact they are fundamentalist, push conservative family contributors fee junk and have the nerve to think of that of direction God might would desire to have a definite dating with the U. S.. i like speaking approximately faith exceedingly on complicated doctrines that conflict with what they understand so as that they have got wasted their time on me and bypass. asserting you're from the Church of devil will no longer complication everybody of religion. in basic terms say you do no longer care lots for their intrusion in it gradual, their ideals are offensive on your very own ideals and need them properly. i do no longer understand of too many mainstream church homes that evangelize door to door. i'm a allure rather than promoting form,

She might have been afraid to read anything contradictory until she'd grown stronger in her Bible knowledge. I study apologetics, and get very nervous when people ask me about subjects I haven't studied yet (such as the Trinity).

On the one hand, yes, maybe she was a hypocrite. On the other hand, maybe she's like me and just isn't very good at processing a lot of contradictory information at once. Therefore, she panicked and said something that now sounds rude.

In either case, what about your response? Have you prayed, as she asked you to? If not, do you think that 'two wrongs make a right'?

Maybe instead of calling her names, you need to think hard about how you reacted.

A definition of hypocrite would be someone who said "Dont lie", yet lies themself.

She was probably not there to get into an arguement with you about atheism and evolution, which might have been where she thought you were going with your request.

Did she say what denomination? Just curious. Im guessing JW or Mormon. I am guessing anyone else may have humored you or even said they would take the pamphlet with them.

How is praying with you pushing beliefs onto you? You clearly could have rejected her request and I am betting that she would have left you alone. Are you one of those people that get mad when people pray at sporting events? Sheesh...

say no more scuba, we have tried this on the Jehovah's it's great fun my husband bombards them with quotes and inaccuracies from the Bible and they can't answer but i will give them this at least they admit they don't know. WE are now blacklisted from their monthly run on our street blast!!

PS the trick is to invite them in !!!!

i think we should all get together on here and compile our own leaflet and go for it!!!

For those who say it was probably a Jehovah's Witness. It was not! Jehovah's Witnesses do not go to doors offering to pray for people. We are there to share a thought from the bible only.

It probably was not a 'Christian' but a Jehovah's Witness.

You took a novel approach. My older brother has a little peep hole, and whenever he sees it's the JW's or the Mormons, he just takes his clothes off and answers the door naked! They leave, and it's usually several years between visits!!!

Hmm does sound bad, any good Christian should be willing to find out about other theories, because knowing your 'enemies' will only help you to prove your point stronger :P

Your right. She had no right.

I am a christian and I never go door to door or anything like that. Number one it's to damn dangerous and number two you have a choice to believe what you want to believe.

You handled it right though.

But I want to know what the name of the church is, because I dont think that woman was a Christian. More like a JW.

That is such a fantastic idea.

I guess the reason she came to your door was so she could tell you about her belief, not to hear about yours. That is why proselyting is such a turn off to me. It is such an imposition.
