It is a false religion that wants to unite all beliefs in the world. It is an antichrist belief that no true Christian should have any part with, because Jesus said He is the only way.

Interestingly, it is the official religion of the UN. That alone should tell you that it's evil.

Well, this is quite a mix of answers so far! Yes, Baha'is worship God. I was raised a Christian and find no conflict in my current (Baha'i) Faith and the one in which I was raised except that Christians do not accept Baha'u'llah. I hope this quote will help clarify that a bit:

"For the Faith of Bahá'u'lláh -- if we would faithfully appraise it -- can never, and in no aspect of its teachings, be at variance, much less conflict, with the purpose animating, or the authority invested in, the Faith of Jesus Christ. This glowing tribute which Bahá'u'lláh Himself has been moved to pay to the Author of the Christian Religion stands as sufficient testimony to the truth of this central principle of Bahá'í belief: -- "Know thou that when the Son of Man yielded up His breath to God, the whole creation wept with a great weeping. By sacrificing Himself, however, a fresh capacity was infused into all created things. Its evidences, as witnessed in all the peoples of the earth, are now manifest before thee. The deepest wisdom which the sages have uttered, the profoundest learning which any mind hath unfolded, the arts which the ablest hands have produced, the influence exerted by the most potent of rulers, are but manifestations of the quickening power released by His transcendent, His all-pervasive and resplendent Spirit. We testify that when He came into the world, He shed the splendor of His glory upon all created things. Through Him the leper recovered from the leprosy of perversity and ignorance. Through Him the unchaste and wayward were healed. Through His power, born of Almighty God, the eyes of the blind were opened, and the soul of the sinner sanctified...  186  He it is Who purified the world. Blessed is the man who, with a face beaming with light, hath turned towards Him.""

(Shoghi Effendi, The World Order of Baha'u'llah, p. 185)

The Baha'i Faith is not a mixture of all religions. We believe that all religions come from the same God, so we are accepting of all religions and share many common beliefs.

CJ -- I do not know where you got the idea that the Baha'i Faith is the official religion of the UN. I have never heard that -- or that the UN has any official religion. The UN is made up of representatives of many countries and many religions, so do not know how the UN could have an official religion.

Sincere -- the word "Baha'i" is derived from the word "Baha" which means "Glory" and refers to the Glory of God (Baha'u'llah). A Baha'i is a follower of the Glory of God.

dewcoons -- pretty accurate answer, except that we do not pray publicly 3 times a day. We are expected to pray daily and Baha'u'llah has revealed some specific prayers that should be said daily, but we have some choice as to which prayer and when we say it. Also, I'm not sure what you mean about dressing the same as Muslims, unless you mean that we are also enjoined to dress modestly. I dress the same as others in my workplace; at home I usually wear jeans and T-shirt as that is practical. No head-covering, no chador.

I hope this answers some questions for you, beba. Please feel free to post more or email me, if you prefer.

Yes, Bahai's worship GOD. The Bahai faith does not go against Christian teachings. Bahai's believe that Jesus was a manifestation of GOD. They believe in his teachings and that there is no harm in a Christian praying "In Jesus Name." As a matter of fact, they believe that all major religions (at one point and time) worshiped GOD, but mankind perverted the teachings. They're religion is not a mixture of different religions, but they believe that the founders in these religions got revelations from GOD and all these revelations can be used for spiritual progression.

The Bahai faith claims that it is a mixture of the major world religions. Yet if you study the tennats of Bahai you will see that Bahai in fact has its own beliefs and if you go to a Bahai temple, like the one in Chicago, they will not teach about Jesus or Muhammed but will teach from the Bahai doctrine.

Bahai says they are not against any religion and simply a mix of all the religions. Yet Christianity teaches that Jesus is the ONLY way to the Father therefore Bahai would be against that particular teaching.

The Bahai faith orignated in Persia in the 19th century. It is an offshoot of the Muslim faith, and very similar in beliefs.

It treats all the "prophets" of the Jews, Christians and Muslim faith as equal, all being messengers of God. (Which is an interesting claim since their messages often exclude the other two).

They are monotheist (one god), have no specific "savior", in believe in salvation through good works and ritual prayer. They include a belief in the unity of science and religion, universal education, and the equality of sexes as essential to their religion.

They are very similar to Muslims in their dress, temple design, forms of worship (public recital of prayers three times a day) and believes.

It's a religion that tries to be the "world" religion. It claims that the 5 major religions of the world (Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism) all are "correct" in a sense. They pride themselves in being open to everybody.

Oh, that is except for homosexuals (who they still consider an abomination) and women (who are accepted but still can't serve on their high council). And any pagan religions. But other than that, sure, pure harmony for all!

Is the word "Bahai" derived from Ba-Bye and Hi?
