Daisaku Ikeda has made the deepest study of this topic with a look at the actual usefulness of these concepts to living beings. There don't seem to be limitations on the conditions of reincarnation, except that you can only be reborn under conditions suitable to your karma. There seems to be no reason why people can't create karma like that voluntarily and there are a lot of indications of it in the writings of Nichiren Daishonin.

I had a theory (doubtless someone somewhere thought of it centuries ago, but never mind) - who's to say re-incarnation (if it occurs) is bound by time? Most people assume if you were to die tomorrow, you would be reincarnated sometime after this event (I've yet to here of someones past life actually being from the future), but what if it wasn't bound by time, and you could get reincarnated say, a hundred years ago? This would mean that in theory you would only need a single soul, being reincarnated and living every life, seeing life from every perspective. This would fit in quite well if there was a supreme being, because the question must be asked- what do you do when you know everything and can do anything? One answer would be to create a universe, forget you created it, and live out a myriad of different lives. I don't actually believe this, but its more interesting than the usual reincarnation theory...

I believe the cycle of reincarnation does not end, That the object of life is not to eventually escape from it, as if this world is not what counts the most. We need to value this reality as the most important reality, so as to get better at dealing with all aspects of it, and seeing what is of positive value in all aspects of it. This desire to escape the struggle of life, rather than taken it on as a challenge, is not good, whether the escape is after one life or a million. We have so many serious problems in this world, because people are not facing its challenges, and working at addressing its problems. There may be some spirits with out bodies and a need for a body, but they are of a different type. God (the universal force and spirit) would not require a body. One needs to focus on this reality like there is no other option, and see the value of exercising the human spirit so as to keep it strong, through having to deal with the complexities and struggles of the reality of this material universe we live in.

I believe reincarnation exists, souls of families exist, and I also believe that some clusters do happen, to an extent.

Yes I believe in reincarnation and we will go back to our same soul but to a virtuous one or to an evil one; it depends on our own actions in that world.

funny I was reading recently one theory of reincarnation, we are all facets of some big electrical personality that univeraly exists ( I took this to mean god) and it is this that is reincarnated in search for perfection that it may universaly unite with god. The extract was on the `higher self`and how we can open doorways to unfold our true `self`. For this reason then yes I do think they reincarnate in clusters.

I believe many of the people who are most dear to us we meet again and again in new lifetimes. I wouldn't call this a cluster, because even if you and I are in each other's circle of "soul friends", your circle may include others who are total strangers to me, and mine who are total strangers to you.

I believe in reincarnation - but have never pondered this question. But thinking about it now, I'd have to say, yes. I've always felt that I've known my daughter before. It is, indeed, comforting.
