You could not argue self defence unless the person continued the attack after pushing you.

Absolutely not, violence is not the answer, was it or could it have been an accident, you did not say.
Was there verbal interaction before the incident.
In this world we are too quick to use our physical strength and not our own intellect.

violence begets violence. I know you were angry and acted in anger. It's just once you start violent actions it just multiplies. It's best to just walk away and report what happened to your school counselor. Remember this the next time something like this happens.

You should have just reported it to the police as an assaulted instead of replying with your fists... if you had done so you could have charged them with assault whereas now it will just look like tit for tat.
