In the Weddings section, these questions are asked about once every 48 hours:

-How much should I spend on a gift?
-What song should I play at my wedding?
-How much does an "average" wedding cost?
-When do I send thank you notes?

I move for a 30-day moratorium on these questions. Who's with me?

And additional meritorious nominees from LH and PS:
-What finger do I wear my engagement ring on?
-Is it wrong to ask for money instead of gifts?
-What are some good wedding websites?

What these questions have in common is that the answers rarely change. As far as I know, engagement ring fingers haven't changed in a while. On thank you notes, you will get answers ranging from "immediately" to 1 year after the wedding. On the "how much should I spend," 1/3 of the answers will say "what you can afford," 1/3 will say "the cost of the meal," and 1/3 will say $25-$10, with a few over $100. Are the prior several hundred answers on these topics any more valid or invalid than the "fresh" batch of answers?

Oh, and to those I have offended by questioning why folks don't do a minimal bit of legwork before posting -- apologize for taking myself so seriously. I do that sometimes.

LOL Bubbles! But at least I waited 10 months since the last person posted it! And that chick only got 3 answers -- I've left her in the dust already! :-)

I do a speedy seek on Y!A earlier posting. I do locate solutions i'm searching for many times, so i don't placed up. each and every so often the threads are months previous, so i don't see any issues in posting an identical question lower back - new human beings, new comments. despite if somebody repeats a question that grow to be published final week, it do not difficulty me.

I'd also like to add:

-"Which finger/hand does the engagement ring go on?"
-"What's the difference between an engagement ring and a promise/wedding ring?"
-And my all-time favorite are the ones having to do with age: "Is 16 too young to be thinking about marriage?", "How old should someone be to get married?"

I look at some of these bizarre questions on this site and think "Wait, I thought that was common knowledge!". I guess common knowledge is about as common as common sense.

EDIT: Oh! I forgot about these:
-"How do I get my boyfriend to propose?"
-"My name is ___, my birthday is ____. When will I get married?"

Quit crying! I've seen THIS question asked millions of times and I don't complain. Sometimes people are hoping for a different variety of answers because they didn't get what they needed from the last post. I'm thankful that you aren't answering them, probably a wasted post anyway.

Chill out, people!

LOL Blossom, you'd take half my fun away from me! I keep my "best answers" texts in a file and copy & paste them in for these FAQs. I've tried doing Y!A searches and getting useful results it isn't as easy as you might think! But I believe you're idea is insightful. It would be nice if Y!A kept an archive of FAQs from some categories, a kind of sub-catagory of 'weddings' or something.

YES I DO!

I have seen several questions be asked at least twice a day. If people would only read the previous questions and read the answers they'd KNOW.

IMO its a waste of five points by not looking at a previous question.

Well people are nervous and want advice. I search and post becuase some of the questions are not related to what I am looking for. Your questions can be more specific.

No because it gives me an opportunity to cash in on points... hehehe

On a serious note, maybe they did and they did not find what they were looking for... hmmmmmm

What I wish is that people would stop getting mad that other people ask questions even if they are repeats, after all this is YAHOO ANSWERS right???

Absolutely!

The ?'s I notice most often are "how can I ask for cash instead of gifts", "how do I wear my rings" and "who pay for what"---asked every single day, and always to the same replies.

Still, I'd rather see those questions regularly than see the reply of "it's your day" it's ok to be a jerk to your friends and family.

I totally agree with you!! I'm getting tired of seeing the same questions over and over again. People need to look before they ask stupid questions.
