I have had orthotic inserts for my feet since 2000. I am 57 years old and have high arches. My feet still sore in the morning and if I sit down after working in the yard etc., they see to hurt again. And my knees and legs are starting to have some pain.

Is is possible I need new orthotics and that my feet are causing the knew and leg problems (as opposed to my age and my being a bit overweight)?

The basic questions is whether your feet continue to change or whether orthotics can wear out and lose their support.

Mine were made by a podiatrist, if that helps.

Hopefully you have custom made orthotics from a qualified podiatrist (foot doctor). Anything sold in a store, no matter what the store is, are bogus. Your feet could change a bit over time, but since you are not growing like a child would be, there wouldn't be significant change. If you haven't already, find a podiatrist that specializes in biomechanics of the foot and you will be happy. They will make a casting of your foot and base the orthotic from that casting. Also, some podiatrist put out wimpy orthoticts, others provide ones that last for years and years. Good luck.

Probably.

I also have this problem. Weight is a contributing factor, so that losing weight would help. Nonetheless, your feet do change over time as they adapt and respond to the orthotic. Just like needing a new eyeglass prescription every X number of years.

maximum quite often, those with severe arches, or "over supination" get foot discomfort because of the fact their foot does no longer circulate into the burden acceptance mode (or pronation). This makes those with severe arches greater companies to repetitive stress form syndromes of the decrease extremities mutually with stress fractures. An orthotic that helps the foot settle for weight and distribute it greater flippantly could be valuable. An orthotic for individuals who're over supinators could be created from a softer foam form of fabric (while people who choose are over pronators and choose greater administration of the foot normally choose a rigid orthotic)...and confident, custom is larger. i choose to propose going to an orthotist for a setting up...those are human beings whose customary activity is to make orthotics. I additionally propose that the DC (or a actual therapist) examine what's occurring on your foot for the duration of walking/working (as suited) as many cases what's occurring in quiet status is often very diverse than what happens for the duration of activity...fantastically if potential deficits are in touch. additionally, verify inclusive of your coverage agency with regards to coverage. Many will require you to be geared up at a undeniable agency, podiatrist, and so on.
