The Ten Commandments taken from Exodus chapter 20:1-17 and Deuteronomy chapter 5:6-21.
Properly translated from the original Hebrew, the phrase is: You shall not murder. Look at a Jewish version of the Ten Commandments: http://www.hebrew4christians.com/Scripture/Torah/Ten_Cmds/ten_cmds.html
The commandment "You shall not murder" forbids direct and intentional killing as gravely sinful. The murderer and those who cooperate voluntarily in murder commit a sin that cries out to heaven for vengeance. (Gen 4:10)
Catholics believe suicide when committed in full knowledge and deliberate consent is a complete turning away from God (a mortal sin) and will send a person to hell.
There are 3 conditions of a mortal sin: grave matter, full knowledge, and deliberate consent.
While suicide (or any kind of murder) is always a grave matter, people who commit suicide may not always have full knowledge of what they're doing. Drugs can definitely impair one's thinking, as can other things, such as diseases, intense pain, or anguish.
Therefore, suicide is not automatically treated as a mortal sin.
We are commanded by Christ not to judge others so we leave final judgment to God who alone knows each person's heart.
The Code of Canon Law does not list suicide as a reason to deny a person a Catholic funeral. http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG1104/__P4C.HTM

It doesn't say this in the Holy Bible. Though Catholics practice this law by means I do not know of. Like Saraboom said, Catholics believe in purgatory. The place between Heaven and Hell. Most other Christians however believe that those who commit suicide have a disease (depression) and will still go to Heaven as long as they accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. But remember God gave us a purpose in life, if we know what it is yet or not. And we should live for that purpose. And ask God for our happiness in the future.

The Bible does not say this.
The people who claim this as a biblical teaching say that it is murder and that you didn't have a chance to ask for forgiveness.
These same people obviously do not have a biblical understanding of forgiveness. The Bible says that if we walk in the light Jesus' blood is continually purifies us from sin. (1 John 1)

It doesn't say any such thing. That's a false teaching of the catholic cult to go along with the thousands of other false teachings, and false gospel, they have.
Suicide is stupid, but if someone who believes that Jesus, who is God, died for their sins on the cross and rose again, committed suicide, they'd go to heaven.
The only way to hell is to reject this truth about Jesus Christ to your dying breath, whether that death is caused by suicide or anything else.

Oh - come on - the Ten Commandments - thou shalt not kill - that includes oneself. But, if a person has trusted in Christ and for whatever reason - does kill themself - they will not go to hell. Romans 3:23 says for ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. That means everybody - deserves to go to hell. To God - even a simple lie - is as bad as murder as far as the consequences for sin go. Fortunately, Romans 6:23 can come into play here - so read the book of Romans and you'll know my answer in full.

People who commit suicide don't go to hell. They are sent to limbo in 'pergetory' for ever. pergetory is not hell. It is a place between Heaven and Hell, where souls are set to linger in thier pain, in a 'time out' until god deems them forgiven. At least that's my catholic understanding of it.

It doesn't say that in the bible. All sins are for4giveable, including suicide - once you accept Jesus Christ because Jesus died for ALL SINS -- PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE. So if a person asks for forgiveness, they need receive it but once, because Jesus died but once. That is truth in scripture.
