I think a green would be gorgeous, like "dried thyme" by Sherwin Williams. Another great color for the living room would be "empire gold." Earth tones are very inviting & cozy.

Oyster is beautiful for most any color furniture. Blues work great as well, perhaps a light sky blue. Gold or teal, think of jewel tones, even a good burgundy. Go to the paint store w/ a swatch or 1 of your pillows & hold it up w/ many colors in a paint deck. You'll pick a few, put the sample square on your wall & decide in no time. Think of how the room is to be seen: relaxing or playful. Will you chill after a long day @ work & read the paper or watch tv & have pals over for games? The color should encourage the activity.

We just painted our big walls chocolate brown, and with our brown couch there is no color, so I definitely would not go with a brown. However, we are getting a sage green couch set and we knew this so that is why we went with the brown. I would go with either a green (like sage) or a red, and then you can do some of the other walls a lighter brown. If you do end up going all brown though, you could get throw pillows, art work, plants, candles, etc. to add color too.

I guess it depends on if you want warm and earthy, or more modern . you could do one wall a deep red , and the rest a taupe . or something else that looks nice with choc late tones is a is some of the new turquoise colors this season. It also depends on the style of sofa . Is it sleek and modern or...?if you love the style of sofa then that can be a starting point for your design. getting paint chips can help to narrow the decision down. also looking in a magazine for inspiration can help you focus more on what your own personal design style is. good luck.

Well it truly depends on your taste.
If you prefer a monochromatic simple look, you can go with a khaki color with white trim. I have one called "Cafe au Lait" in my living room and get tons of compliments on it being the "perfect shade". (from sherwin williams, btw)
If you want color, but not too wild, I'd go with a terra cotta or olive-y green! These are nice warm and inviting.
With brown furniture, I'd definitely stay with warm tones. It will give you a sense of richness.
As for the ceiling, keep it simple. I'm not a fan of painting ceilings a color. Just stick with white or off white!
HTH!

It is always a good rule of thumb to paint ceiling light, like off-white.
You want your walls to accent the rest of the room. I suggest
a light tan...in that color scheme. Accent with medium throw
pillows, green plants and warm colors on accent pieces.
Your local paint store will have color cards that are free. You
can pick several that you like and take them home to see how it works with your furnishing. You can go with natural earth colors, including leaf type greens. Make the room your own...what YOU like. Don't be afraid of trying things. If you don't like the first choice you can always change it.

You could do one wall a much darker shade of the brown and the rest of the walls in a much lighter shade.

one great thing they sell are color samples so you can preview your choices on the walls rather than some sample card- a nice choice would be a subtle orange accent wall and the others a rich cream...maybe something in the taupe family if you're not as adventurous
