Yes, banks don't give a hoot where the money comes from. That's why some US banks are under scrutiny for member organizations who fund terrorist activities. But as long as they get their money, everybody is John Doe.

As long as the wife agrees it to and signs the checks.
The lender doesn't care where the money comes from, as long as they get paid.

Whilst married, legally, there is no distinction between 'my money' and 'my partners money' .. so yes, the wife IS responsible for her husbands debts (and vise-versa)
