In the history of religion, dualism refers to the eighteenth-century doctrines that see God and the devil as two first principles, irreducible and coeternal. Christian Wolff (1734/1968) classified dogmatic philosophies into dualistic systems, which separated the soul from the body as distinct substances, and monistic systems, both groups being distinct from skepticism. In anthropology, epistemology, and ethics, a theory is dualistic when two irreducible principles can serve as a foundation for the theory.-

A plausible answer to a Prodigious question?
What are you talking about: the principle of duality in Algebra, mathematical logic, wave-particle Physics or the Quranic Approach to an Integrated Science Curriculum. Parhaps it's the supernatural duality of Christ being Satan's brother and each having equal powers?

Duality is the belief that we are of two materials, spiritual and material. It is the idea that our body and our mind are two separate things, and that, after our body dies, the mind somehow lives on. This is the belief of religious people to think there is a life after death (which makes the previous answer funny).
In reality, the mind is just a process of the brain, in much the same way as a computer program is a process in the computer. So, obviously I don't believe in duality.

Principle of duality says that the reality is only one. All the opposites merges into it. But the mind splits everything into two. The mind moves in a certain plane. It can not work without splittings things into two.
Say heat and cold. They are not two things. Our body has a natural temperature. Anything above that we feel it as hot and anything below it we feel it as cold. But in reality there is no hot and no cold. It is all varying degrres of heat.
In reality everything is joined together. Life and death is joined together. good and bad is joined together. bueaty and ugly is joined together.
In reality there is nothing ugly and nothing beautyful. Things are as it is. If you create something the opposit also get created automatically. If you define beauty the ugly also gets created. If you create a god the devil also get created with it. The reality is undevided. If you create an illusion then it's mirror image get created.

Without duality we would be completely unaware of all things.
Reality itself (realizing) is the combining of the vibrations of the universe (actuality) with our own vibrations (of mind).
A basis of any understanding is founded on a reference point. (It is impossible to say where 1 point is without reference to another!!!!!!!!!!!)
Would you cross the street after looking down one direction only!
Ignorant persons often mis-use the And terminology.
Up and down, Right and left, Light and dark, Good and evil
In actuality there is NO 'AND'.
WE are living/we are dying,....They are one of the same phenomenon!

Simply put, it's good and evil.
Two opposing sides or modes, and it's extremely important in Western religious movements.
Most religious groups identify and personify the evil in movements, issues, and people that threaten the groups values. For instance, pagans are evil to Christians because their beliefs threaten their own belief system. Or in a non-religious manner...some Americans think that Middle Easterners are evil because they threaten their livelyhood.
There is a lot more that I could say, but I don't want to ramble... :)

If toy believe in Duality you become a split personality. You have to be on your own both in materialistic and spiritual aspects. If you think something, speak something and act something else, you may be stoned to death.

Part of the meaning is our dual nature, our ability to turn towards material/self/ego and the material/physical world and our ability to turn towards the higher inner self/our spiritual reality. For example, when we express injustice, untruth, hypocrisy, lack of integrity, etc., we focus on and express our material nature. When we express justice, truthfulness, genuineness, and integrity, we focus on and express our spiritual reality. This is not to imply anything about the nature of all existence and the philosophy of dualism, rather the point is that we have choices in our responses to our approach to life.

Man is not dualistic, we are triune like God.
http://www.kingdom-gospel.com/soul.html
Man is a triune being. We were made in the image of God. God is triune and so is man. Angels and demons are spirits, I do not believe they have souls, but am unsure. Animals are dualistic, they are soul and body. Plants have body only.
1 Thess 5: MKJV
23 ¶ And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blamelessly at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The word "soul" in the greek is "psuche", this is where we get the english word psychic. It is often translated: heart (+ -ily), life, mind, soul, + us, + you.
The word "spirit" in the greek is "pneuma", this is where we get pneumatic tool (a tool powered by air). It is often translated: ghost, life, spirit(-ual, -ually), mind.
