Its worth it just think about after that year how much more secure you would feel about your smile.I had to wear braces for 2 years for my overbite didnt want to but now that its done its behind me.I was 21 now I'm 23 got them off well worth it.A year is not long anyways for braces some people go 4 or more years.Plus now you can get invisalign just a clear plastic retainer people cant even see just take it out when you eat and I think its faster not availabe when I had them.

I don't think 27 is too old for Braces. I knew a guy who had received braces at age 52. There are plenty of alternatives but, things like Invisalign and braces on the back of your teeth work only in certain situations, it all depends on how much your teeth have to move. Invisalign will only work in mild situations. The braces behind the teeth are good if you don't want people to notice you are wearing braces but, I have heard complaints about food getting stuck back there and it is not as easy to clean the braces behind the teeth as it is with braces on the front. I had clear braces, about 15 years ago. They were pretty good then and they are way better now. Yes, you can still notice them but, they aren't as obvious and easy to keep clean and easily adjusted by the orthodontist. Plus you wont have to worry about people calling you tinsel teeth..hahaha. Your best bet is to meet with an orthodontist for a counciltation. The counciltation is usually free. Explain to them you needs and worries and they will be able to help with all the options you will have. It really will depend on how much your teeth are going to have to move. Braces are or can be an expensive endeavour and it usually is not covered by insurance. You will have to wear them over a year or more depending on how much your teeth have to move. But, in the long run, it is worth its weight in gold because you will be able to smile beautifully everytime someone makes you smile. Ok, I hope this helps. 27 is not to old for you to get braces. In fact I think braces are cute. Take care and I can't wait to see your new smile.

I'm 29 and have braces!! Everyone tells me I look much younger, that's a big plus:) As for the gagging, I have the same problem. Have your doctor or dentist write a script for phenergen (spell??) It shuts down the gag reflex in your brain. you may gag a little, but you will not vomit. I say go for it and get your braces, you will love your new smile:)

No, I do not think 27 is too old for braces. I am going have to get them myself (I'm around your age) and I've seen 40+ year olds have them...so, I definently think 27 is not too old. I do not know of any alternatives. If it is just an overbite then it's actually something that you can live with. Or so my dentist says, it's more of a cosmetic thing.

I have a bad over bite and my bottom teeth we're cutting my gums in my upper gum. They suggested braces and I went with that. Hopefully, I'll get them off this month or around the first of Jan. They're worth every bit of pain you might you experience. Good luck.

I think no age is really too old to get braces. It's for your own self improvement. Try invisible braces if you're self conscious. 1 year is not too long to wear braces to get the smile you want. Plus, they will straighten your teeth and it's better for your teeth in the long run.

i have heard that they now have clear braces, that just fit over your teeth but I imagine they cost more. If you think about it though, a year isn't really that long, but if you do decide to get the braces, you should make sure you brush your teeth regularly and very often otherwise you might get spotting on your teeth, just take care of them and it should be fine!

Definitely not too old. I've known people older than that who have gotten braces. If you don't look like the look of braces, there's invisiline (or something like that) that is basically invisible.
