I am 13 weeks pregnant and this has happened to me twice since I've been pregnant. I wake up in the middle of the night, choking and unable to catch my breath. It also leaves a bad taste in my mouth, as if I had just vomited. What could be causing this?

It could be the baby leaning on your stomach. Talk to the doctor.

This might not have anything to do with you being pregnant. It could be acid reflux. This can cause you to have spells of choking. It also leaves a bad taste in your mouth because while you sleep the acid from you stomach can come up in your throat.

You might want to avoid spicy foods and cola, and any fruit that contains acid such as grapefruit and oranges until you find out what is your problem.

You also might want to get an over the counter medicine for heartburn, such as Prilosec, just to see if this will ease you symtoms.

During pregnacy your body sometimes goes through changes. This might be your case. If this doesn't get better, then you really need to see your doctor.

Hope this information helps. I have acid reflux myself. I have those same symtoms when I don't stay on my meds regular.

I would def tell your parents and go get it checked out by a doctor. They are the professionals, not yahoo answers. Any medical condition should be checked on. They will take the right course of action to help you out =]
