don't even go there...

The Church is much the same as our homes. In our homes we receive guidance, instruction, and correction when needed. Our home brings peace and comfort to our bodies. It is the place where we sit at a table as a family and share a meal and visit about our very existence. We all have often stated how good it would be to be home.We have the phrase "Home Sweet Home".

We see today how that these virtues and pleasures are not a part of many of our homes today.Children are not being taught basic self denial.Safe sex is taught in our schools to children who haven learned how to carry out the trash. Many parents are so caught up in the things of this world that they have forgotten that they even have children. The supper table where all used to come together and share their cares has been replaced. Its been replaced with a tv-tray that sits in front of a TV.And how did much of this get started?

When we came up with the quote that you don't have to go to church to be saved.Spiritual decay often produces moral decay.I cannot imagine not wanting to go home anymore than I can imagine not wanting to go to church. If your church is lacking in areas that you don't approve of, then do something about it.Be the change that you want to see at church.Fast and pray for those that oppose you, love them anyway. If the Spirit moves you to go some where else well then do it, but don't stop going to church. You wouldn't stop wanting to go home would you?

What good is the family of God? It's a direct comparison to our blood relation families. It a group of people who love and support each other. They gather around and have a meal together from time to time. They grow closer to each other by serving each other and banding together to serve people outside of the family. The only difference is that churches gather together on a regular basis with the intent to worship God. Are all families perfect. No. Some families lose their way and fall apart. Church families are the same way, there are a few that lose their way and collapse. But God blesses His Son's followers (collectively called the church) and encourages unity in the same way He is unified with the Son and Spirit.

People who believe in similar ways are allowed to strengthen relationships with one another and (hopefully) pool their resources to do more good works than they could by themselves. Those who believe in the New Testament would also say that it is mandated that they "not forsake fellowship with one another".

For people who are nonconformist or want to come to their own conclusions about God, though, it can be a very stifling place--because most differences of opinion are seen as proof that you are not a "True" believer and you need to get back in line with the mainstream.

The Mormons did it best, Trick a bunch of subtle minded people into giving you 10% of their earnings...Not a bad living if you have 9 followers you are making the same as them and only working one day a week...

Ultimatly its where people can go who have mutual interests (all be it relgiously based) and have fellowship. they mutual support eachother form friendships and relationships and feel that they are doing good for themselves and eachother. Much like how people join things like the Freemasons Scouts, or even the SCA
