As a student of science, I find your naivete hilarious. Science can be proven and applied. Science is all around us. Without science, there would be no medicine, skyscrapers, bridges, cars, airplanes, rockets, etc. I don't find those things to be silly.

"God" is an idea. It's whatever one wants him, her, or it to be. For instance, the Aztecs believed that the sun was god. Praying to god does not change the world. We could pray for the starving people of Africa for days and weeks, but they will still starve and die. Divine intervention does not exist.

In sum, people will believe what they want to believe.

It's a silly thing we call knowledge and reality. While I respect that you believe that god is great, I'd like to know that he actually exists. I've been told that Santa is good and that unicorns are beautiful, but as far as I can tell none of them exists.

There is little chance that god did what the bible says that he did without leaving evidence for it happening.

There has been more than one whole generation now that has passed through the public educational system. In this system, the primary philosophy is secular humanism. The children are taught by adults (who seem to know everything) that evolution is the explaination for our existence. There is no God. Ethics and morals are gone to relativism.
Children believe what they are told, and made to learn.

Because it's more plausible than a mysterious, cosmic being with infinite wisdom getting bored and creating life and rules by which the aforementioned life must live.

Cos, they are silly and lazy bones. They dont want to even listen to their inner voice. They are not worthy enought to realize the existence of god. They simply sit on other inventions and pass time and never live their life.

My grandfather was a physicist and he told me that science proves the things of faith and how can that be a bad thing...Science just gave proof that prayer works...isn't that something to be glad about instead of being angry that science is venerated by those who need something beyond a belief
