working with community support officers and they say violent crime is at it's lowest for decades!!!

Where?
Crime rates continue to rise all over this country and it is easy to check that...go online and ask for crime statistics

See the link I have attached in relation to British crime statistics. How accurate they are I don't know.

I do think that in these times we are more aware of crime, particularly violent crime, because of the wide media coverage that we now have.

I also think that PCSO's are no substitute for real police officers. I'm sure that the PCSO's do a good job, however they have limited powers and were introduced by the government purely as policing on the cheap (probably to free up funds so that the government can give themselves another bumper pay rise!!!!)..

Are you kidding? If this is true, then it seems pretty obvious that the record number of police is WHY violent crime is so low. More police means less crime.

How right you are Bear!. PCSOs are cheap labour. The government's con to make us think there are more Officers on the streets. As far as I know these PCSOs have no more powers other than an ordinary citizen.

Especially when the so called support officers don't actually have any powers to arrest anyone.
