They consider Him one of the great prophets but not as great as Muhammed. To them, Jesus is about the equivalent of Abraham, Moses, Elisha, etc.

First, Islam requires all Muslims to believe that Jesus was a Messenger of the Almighty to mankind of great stature, along with Moses, Abraham, David and our Prophet. If a Muslim insults or blasphemes Jesus, he or she can get death penalty for that. Respecting Jesus is serious business. Plus, we believe he was the Messiah of the Jewish folks. Messiah meaning someone who was the High Priest as well as the King of Israel, as was Moses.
Muslims however do not accept Jesus was God or the Son of God with a capital g. If people consider him a son of God as David was called a son of God, for being so obedient to the Lord that one would inherit His World, then there would be no objection.
However, if the son of god is taken in the same meaning as Hercules was the son of the heavenly god, Zeus, then that is totally unacceptable to Islam. In other words, we do not believe the Lord Almighty can be brought down to the level of animals who need progeny and procreation to sustain their species. We believe the Lord is EVER LIVING, thus he is above the need for progeny. And, as even an average person would not do silly things without a reason, we do not believe the Lord Almighty would have a child.
Daniel 3:25; 4Ezra2:47 & Wisdom 2:18 mention the son of god. Also, note Genesis 6:2, 6:4; Job 1:6; 2:1; 38:7 and lastly Wisdom 18:13 uses the word sons of God where sons is plural.
Note also that in Matt.13:57 & Mark 6:4 Jesus refers himself as a Prophet. The multitude called Jesus a prophet in Matt 21:11, and Jesus did not stop them. There are numerous other places where Jesus is refered as the Prophet right in the New Testament.
So, the beliefs of the Muslims are consistent with the Gospels and the Torah and Tanakh.
I hope this makes sense.

Muslims do believe that Isa (A.S.) was sent down as a Prophet of Allah (God), but he (Jesus) is not God or Lord, nor the son of God. Muslims do not believe that Isa (A.S.), also known as Jesus by Christians and others, is dead or was ever crucified. We believe that he was raised to heaven and is there, and will descend at the appointed time, end all wars, and bring peace to the world. Like Jesus (A.S.), Muhammad (Peace be upon him) is also a Prophet and Messenger. Muhammed (P.B.U.H.) is the last Prophet, though, and there is none after him. Hence, Islam is the last religion, complete, with the Holy Qur'an as the unchanged and perfect word of God for over 1400 years, as God promised to preserve it till the last day for all of humankind, unlike sacred texts of other religions which have mulitple versions and are "revised" periodically. God, or Allah in Arabic, is Divine and Supreme Being and Creator.

Muslims believe that Christ was the messenger of God...like other prophets, his duty was also to convey the message that there is One and Only One God and u shud worship Only One God...Though in Islam,it is quite clear that Christ was a Prophet of God but, this can be proved from the bible as well that Jesus Christ never claimed divinity and he was a Prophet of God and see how!
there is not a single unequivocal statement in the complete bible where Jesus himself said 'I am god" or where he said "worship me"...Jesus HIMSELF never said that....In bible,Jesus HIMSELF(i mean himself) never said that he was begotten son of god...other prophets are also referred in the bible calling them as sons but christians only take Jesus to be the begotten son,i duno why...some christians pick the verse John 3 16,and say that in this verse it is said that jesus was god's begotten son,but the christian scholars say that this verse has never been said by Jesus himself and it is also clear when u go to the context of the verse that this statement is not of Jesus...for more information regarding john 3 16,click on the below link
http://www.fredsbibletalk.com/fb003.html...
Jesus has clearly said in the bible "my father is greater than I","My father is greater than all","I can do nothing on My own initiative. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me"and many other statements as well...This clearly shows that Jesus never claimed divinity...
I know there r sum statements in the bible which the christians pick and say that in these verses Jesus has claimed divinity e.g,"I and my father are one","I am the way,the truth and the life","he who has seen me has seen god",but if u go to the context,u'l come to know that these statements mean, what jesus says is the same as what god says;in order to know truly god or in order to follow what god has said, follow the way of Jesus.he who has become aware of Jesus' teachings has become aware of God's teachings bcoz what God says, jesus says the same....the latter statements will contradict with the former statements if u take them in the sense that Jesus claimed that he was god..however if u go to the context of these verses,it will b quite clear that jesus didnt claim he was God.

Joe M has basically got it. I just wanted to add that we believe in all of the miracles of Jesus (Healing lepurs, raising the dead, etc), and we believe in one or two more actually. The Quran states that when Jesus was just an infant, he spoke defending his mother, the virgin Mary.

Islam is the description of the “spiritual state” or “spiritual condition” of a person. This definition is irrespective of time or place.
Islam means to “voluntarily submit ones will to the will of GOD”.
To “voluntarily submit oneself” means to believe in the one God, his Prophets and follow the commandments/laws they brought down for that time.
A "Muslim" is ONE who has voluntarily submitted his/herself to the Lord of Abraham (ALLAH).
All the Prophets from Adam to Noah, to Abraham , to Moses ,to Jesus , to Mohammed and all in between as well as their followers were "Muslim" and they practiced "Islam".
Moses and all his followers were of those who submitted themselves to the Lord of Abraham so they were in the spiritual condition of "Islam" as "Muslims".
For the followers of Moses to stay "Muslim" they would have had to follow the last Israelite Prophet (Messiah) – Jesus -- and obey the latest commands sent down by GOD.
For the followers of Jesus to stay "Muslim" they would have had to accept the final Abrahamic Prophet – Mohammed -- and obey the latest commands sent down by GOD.
Only Muslims will enter into Paradise.
The Lord of Abraham will decide who lived the life of a "Muslim" and only those who receive HIS mercy on the day of Judgement will enter into Paradise and be saved from the fire of Hell.
