My 14 month old son just went through the same thing. I had NO idea until we contacted our peditrician that the juice we were giving him was causing it. We limit his juice to just 4-6 oz and mix water in to fill the cup. He was getting 12 oz of juice a day. Cutting back on the juice and substituting pedialyte to fulfill the rest of his thirst through out the day had made a huge difference in 3 days.

Depends on what she is drinking. Apple juice will cause loose stools. Also if she is drinking a lot of juice check the ingredient label. You'd be surprised how many juices have apple juice as the main ingredient. As someone else said, lactose intolerancy would cause the problem as well. Also, some fruit (bananas for my little monkey) will cause problems; as will anti-biotics.

No. She probably ate something that didn't settle with her tummy that's why she's having diarrhea. Liquids will actually keep her hydrated since she's had the diarrhea. Diarrhea can be caused by food poisoning, unclean water and any unsanitized things. Especially with your daughter's age, they get to a lot of stuff that we don't see so just keep everything clean, make sure you wash whatever she eats, especially fruits. Keep her hydrated by giving liquids, pedialyte, popsicles or juice. If it still persist, take her to your doctor so they can take a closer look at her.

A. There are many things that can cause diarrhea at this age, including infections like Giardiasis.
get this child seen soon. before your child is severely dehydrated dehydration can and often causes death in a child
If it has been going on for some time, you should likely see your Pediatrician, who can do stool cultures to check for parasites and bacterial infections.
A milk allergy, lactose intolerance, or other problem causing malabsorption, could also cause a toddler to have diarrhea.

I've heard of high levels of theophylline causing something like this, but it's a very rare occurrance. I'd be interested to hear what the test results are.

when my son drinks too much apple juice he gets diarrhea so therefore he only gets it when i see his stool is hard so first think about what liquids you give her and if is just water then it probably has something to do with her eating habits
