I don't know what difference it makes. It's how big you are on the inside that counts.
I'm only 5'3" myself. But, I served four years in the Marine Corps, including a tour in Vietnam, and have a college degree.
Being short didn't stop me from doing almost anything I wanted.

I don't really know any Mexican people, so I can't say if they are shorter than the average or not, but just like any physical trait, it would be genetic. A couple shorter ancestors have babies, those babies carry the short gene. I'd say that's the most likely story. Sometimes species in isolation will dwarf through evolution to be more successful in their environment, but Mexico isn't isolated on either side, so I doubt that would come into play.

I'm Mexican and taller than many MEN in New England...I lived in Mexico until I was 27 years old. The other day I heard in Maine Public radio that Americans are getting shorter than their European counterparts due to lack of exercise and poor diet...I guess it all depends on how you live. If you have proper health care, eat right and exercise and of course the right genetics you grow if you don't then you don't. Also I heard that the children of immigrants from Asia (where people are usually, not all, short) grow taller in America. I think it's because of the diet and health care.

They're not really Hispanic aka Spanish. They're not "Native American". They're a totally different kind of Indian. Most Indians were short and very dark. The mixed raced kinds you see now must be confusing. But this is why. They're neither Spanish nor northern NA. There you have it.

Convoice, thankyou for your Service!

I've noticed that too.
When I was in Ireland the people in the far South of Ireland in Cork tended to be very short.
Up in the North in Donegal they tended to be very tall (Viking blood maybe?)
There must be a scientific reason for this but I don't know what it is.

They are not all short. My husband is Mexican and stands 6ft2, as do his brothers and fathers. His mom is taller than I am and I stand 5ft8. Asking a question like this shows me that you have never been to a big city in Mexico. They are white Mexicans with blonde hair and blue eyes, red heads and freckle faces too.
To ask a question like this, is like asking why are all Americans fat.
