What made you turn to the religion you have so much faith in?

I will be open minded, and I want to state my piece.

I believe that humans go through hard times, in such times one may turn to "God". Believing that if he has this faith, he will make it through all his hardships. What I see is.... people being asked to put blind confidence into and once something successful happens in one's life, they give the religion all the credit. I believe humans themselves, have the ability to make it through obstacles themselves, it just takes a clear way of thinking through problems. We can be quite emotional in our problems, have stress, but at the end we get through problems because we finally see a certain way. It is not "magic" or the will of someone else. It is in "YOU", no one else.

Once again, I just want to hear what you have to say, regardless of what religion you believe.

each being perceives "the vastness of vast" and the simultaneous inward shrinking to the center of self ( "your realization of existence experience") exactly the same way, regardless of our tendencies to filter and fabricate presumptuously individualistic interpretations, cannot change the simple logic ,...the simple fact that anyone can perceive this different from another. its always "thread to each other thread to bliss" to your designated being group, and those others who overlap yours on this planet. See the best way to explain this is what you perceive as life and death is each 1/2 of "Blisskeepers" heartbeat, and the wonderment you exude, is the oxygen "Blisskeeper" breathes. We are supposed to be "Team human" populate the universe, because these discoveries are the beautiful perpetuation's of existence. see to south of magnetics north is death, to negative charge, positive is death, just because something is opposite of doesn't mean it is non-existent, death is a completion myth, everything only continues. its is either "everything always was and always will be, or the symmetrical opposite "nothingness never". If ever one perceives entropy , they are just lacking dimensions overlap infintinuim. A scientist elated by a discovery is the exact same perception as one in meditation or prayer, because all is the yearning to understand, and therefore be closer to, our creator, in this "open surrender" euphoric wonderment mode. I know it is weird for one so rooted in logic, and science to believe in "creation" but the caterpillar turning into a butterfly is to show us , that its only that one thing that does that. no species is ever allowed to witness thefirst pair of a "Being group" transpiring as atoms coming together out of thin air (or under water ), as eyes to look out of, in an environment to survive in, and since on an ultra microscopic level, everything is a "soup of atoms", it doesn't seem that hard to believe this possible for "Blisskeeper" to achieve.

I don't think that's the case. I'm not a religious person but I do have a personal relationship with my Heavenly Father and He says that a marriage should be between one man and one woman. I'm not concerned that if Gay marriage is legalized then the human race will stop reproducing like the "Children of Men" movie. It's more of a moral issue then a fear of the end of the American race. You are right when you say a person can be gay and follow a faith. Just as a couple can be going to church on Sundays and are shacking up. I think that many people who follow a faith put different sins on a scale. If you lie it's not that bad. If you're having permarital sex that's wrong. If you're gay then watch out. That's not how God views it. Sin is sin. That's it. Nothing more nothing less.

I could see what you are saying if in fact there were more people out there that had been able to "change" their lives and then said...well, I just decided enough was enough and dug down deep etc, etc. Except that so many of them do attribute the blessing of hope from God in one form or another..even ultra successful people try to acknowledge God in someway cuz they, deep down in side know that everything they have comes from Him. They don't want to go there too much because for whom much is given, much is required and they want to live how they want so they hope wearing a cross around their neck (pagan symbol) or thanking God at an awards ceremony or giving God some kind of brief acknowledgement during an interview and so forth along with donating a fraction of their wealth is enough to gain that "in" with God. Yet He is no respector of persons so for those that pray and have their prayers answered, even so most often they aren't super religious..they just know that what occured or changed wasn't by their own device. I believed since I was little...probably 5 years old. I've believed ever since though I have hardly lived for God my whole life. I did turn to Him in hard times and so over and over He has been there for me...now its my turn to be there for someone else.. ..and that is how its supposed to work. Can you imagine the chaos if no one prayed? My life would be in shambles if left up to my own devices. I know...cuz I've seen where I come from (picture an episode of COPS) and I see were I am now...I didn't get here on my own. Oh no...God brought me and I hope He keeps bringin' cuz I'm lost without Him. Love in Christ, ~J~

I was watching how people was acting when they were not saved. The difference between true followers of God is unmistakable. They are friendly, caring, giving, and helpful. They portray a light that is just blessing to be around. Now This is true followers of Christ.
You have good people in the world I agree that are not saved. That would give you the shirt off their back. Those people lack the peace and light from true followers. True followers are gong to help you in the time of need. Churches pay your bills if you ask them to.They have food drives for the hungry.
No sinner is better than a follower nor is a follower better than a sinner. The only advantage is we have an afterlife in Heaven. God Bless

hey, I've studied few religions not through formal school but through my own experience living with people of different religions.95 % of my friends are muslims, 3% hindu 1% budhist and 1% mix of other religions. I did not get any religion intervention from my parents meaning I could have been choosen any religion I'd like, but after looking deeper into the core of everything, I'm happy with the jesus thing, I'm not into jesus god bla bla bla but rather jesus as a human...you know kick me, punch me, nail me, and still able to offer forgiveness?? hell ...no I can't do that, you punch me I'll kick you right in the middle of your fore head.
.... jesus can do that, that is the very reason why I agree to call jesus is god. I would call any do gooders anything.

A lady on the car park just call me an angel the other day, just because I helped her to pick up a bottle of coca cola droped from her burst plastic bag.

if george bush and others follow simple jesus method, there is no more wars in the future. he he he... what a bull***t you may say but...my friends, if you take lots of crap out of religion namely christian you will find the truth nothing but the truth.

Just looking at Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Mother theresia, Nelson mandela. I don't know what their repective religions are, but their mehods of living is similar to jesus(no fight). Nelson Mandela in particular, he is well known for his long suffering in the prison, but what make Mr. Mandela become one of the best known citizen of the planet earth is that he is not kill or put his opponents in the prison like they did to him........I can keep going on with this but ...

Before you say, I'm f****ing mad christian, hell no I haven been to church for loooong time. But you can throw **** on me and I forgive you, because the more I read the jesus thingy the more capable I'm to take more bullsh*ts from any body.

Good times, bad times, hard times, soft times - I've had them all.

I drifted away from HIM, got mad angry and frustrated at HIM, but I never stopped believing in GOD.

Quite frankly, nothing else made any sense to me. It was simply not logical to believe creation, the universe, DNA, life, a sunset, one single leaf or snowflake, love, hope, joy - was all some accidental fluke of nature, a series of bizarre coincidences so remote no one in their right mind could ever believe it.

Correct principles, that we all must live by, because God has created all things.

Heb 11:1 "Faith"
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

"From this we learn that faith is the assurance which we men have of existence of things which is not seen by the naked eye.

And the principle of action in all intelligent beings."

Faith is------- the moving cause of all action in-----intelligent beings.

And as faith is the moving cause of all actions in temporal concern, so is in spiritual----

But faith is not only the principle of action, but also, in all intelligent beings, whether in Heaven or on this Earth.

Faith then, is the first great governing principle which has power, dominion, and authority over all things;

by it they are changed, or by they remain agreeable to the will of God.

ok, here is what I think.... parents take their kids to church and are taught very young to believe or be cast into HELL... so they take that into adult life and it's actually a fear of doing wrong that keeps them there.. They are also taught that you are born into sin... so there is NO way to get away from doing bad things but if you stay with god.. things are forgiven...

I was one who escaped but people want to believe ...JUST in CASE there is some higher being

I mean this respectfully.. no intention of disrespecting anyone.

Well for me it did not happen like you described as I was living a comfortable, successful life in all regards but that I longed for God.

I believe because the eyewitness testimony of Jesus life, ministry and miracles recorded in the gospels is convincing to me. Read them for yourself and see if they're convincing to you.
