I need to get a medical marijuana recommendation and/or prescription from a licensed physician. I have chronic pain and depression, both as a result of being a veteran, and am a poor student who cannot afford to buy 420 on the street. My injuries have already been verified by the VA and am currently receiving benefits however I have been using Vicodin which is rather unhealthy after long periods of time so I wish to use something less hazardous and more effective. I am a veteran but I do not know if I can take care of this at the Veterans hospital or if I should see a private physician, and which physician. I am located in Los Angeles, Ca and served four years of active duty and three tours in the Middle East. Any advice?

I joined Aug. 27 2001, I was deployed to Afghanistan with 1/1 in 2002 four 6 months, and then Iraq in 2003 for 6 months and 2004 for 9 months with HQ Company 1st Marines. Also Marijuana is not illegal in California... I am trying to get a prescription after all.
I really hate stupid and ignorant people.

...SEVERE CHRONIC PAIN!... can't you read? And I don't have PTSD, I am bi-polar just like my Father was, it is a serious medical affliction and it is fairly hereditary. Way to assume you know everything about me though idiot!
I'm not looking for pity or a lecture I was just asking how to get a simple and legal prescription because I don't know how.

So you think that marijuana is better long term than Vicodin? That is not a good decision! If you have problems you need to get them addressed not find ways to put yourself into a state of altered conciousness. If you really want to get some weed, go to the Netherlands, you can buy it in a store, over the counter! Depression can be professionally diagnosed and treated with a ton of drugs avilable, none of which is marijuana! Pain can also be treated with a pharmacy full of drugs, none of which is marijuana!
Thanks for serving, I for one really do appreciate it, but marijuana is not the answer to your problems back here in the US.

Being a Veteran has no impact, and the VA will not help you buy an illegal drug just because you say you have a medical need for it. you are already being treated by the VA, you are not entitled to go out on the street and get a fix.

Marijuana is used for cancer patients, not for those who are wallowing in their own pity. My husband has been in for 6 years and was part of the 101st when they first got to Iraq. He suffers mildly from PTSD but he SURE isn't acting like this. Again, never heard of people getting Marijuana for depression.

Fortunately your state allows you to aquire a prescription for MJ. You may try going through the VA- But a private doctor would be the way to go- It's still a crime under federal law

if your not BSing us you can go to a doctor and get a prescription I don't thank the VA will do it for you though
